In my music folder on my Mac, I have a mix of my own tracks (low res .m4a) and cloud streaming tracks. What I’m trying to do is just import the playlists to my USB Storage folder attached to my Nucleus so I can listen in Roon to the lossless tracks from Tidal. I don’t want to import the low res tracks into my Roon Library because it played the low res tracks instead of the lossless tracks. So I just placed the Library.xml file in the USB Storage folder attached to the Nucleus. I used to have lossless copies of all my CD’s in my old Nuc but I lost everything in the Palisades Fire. Now I’m trying to rebuild my Library by the simplest means possible but still be able to listen to lossless audio. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the additional information, and I’m really sorry to hear about the loss of your music. Let’s get you setup and squared away as quick and as easily as possible.
Just to confirm, you’re wanting to use your existing playlists from Apple Music/iTunes only as a structure, not as a source of audio files, so Roon will match and play the Tidal lossless versions instead of your local versions.
If this is the case, I’d consider using a third-party tool to import your Apple Music playlists and export them directly to Tidal playlists.
Then, when you sync Tidal in Roon, all those playlists just appear with lossless versions and no file handling.
A common app many users have used is sounddiz. I myself have had success transferring playlists using sounddiz as well. Here’s a link:
