· One fibre broadband. Roon connected by Ethernet cable to a Netgear switch

If you don’t have a Roon Backup then start from scratch. Use the guide below for steps:

Hello @ahowson63
I am so sorry to hear you are running into this error. As BlackJack mentioned, this message unfortunately indicates that your current Roon database has become corrupted and cannot be read.

Before you follow the steps to completely start from scratch (which will erase your play history, custom playlists, and library edits), I want to double-check one very important thing with you.

Do you happen to have a Roon Backup saved somewhere else? Sometimes, the “Restore a backup” screen appears empty simply because Roon temporarily lost the path to your storage. Please think about whether you might have previously set up scheduled backups to:

  • An external USB hard drive plugged into your server?
  • A NAS (Network Attached Storage) drive?
  • A cloud service, Dropbox?

If you do have backups in one of these locations, you can click “Find Backups” (or Browse) on that restore screen and manually point Roon to that specific folder.

If you are 100% certain you have never created a Roon Backup, the only solution would be to start from scratch

How do I start from scratch? When I open Roon I just get the same window saying there is an issue loading library and I can’t get any further

In what way are the provided instructions insufficient?

Hi

Can I factory reset the nucleus so I can sell it. When I open the roon app i cannot get to the web interface page as it just keeps saying there is a problem loading your library. I’m seriously ■■■■■■ off with it.

Hi @ahowson63,

We’re again so sorry to hear you’re running into this issue. Do you have any saved backups available?

If so, the reset process is relatively easy. All you need to do is access the Nucleus webUI and select the Database reset button. Here is more info on accessing the webUI:

The Web Interface can also be accessed by:

  1. Typing in the IP Address of the RoonOS Device in a Web Browser
  2. Typing the hostname of the device, for example  http://rock  ,  http://nucleus  ,  http://nucleusplus  ,  http://nucleustitan  or  http://nucleusone
  3. Typing the .local suffix for the device, for example  http://rock.local  ,  http://nucleus.local  ,   http://nucleusplus.local  ,  http://nucleustitan.local  , or  http://nucleusone.local

Having a saved backup is crucial here, as resetting your database will essentially start you on a clear slate, like you would starting on your first day of using Roon.

Once you restore from a saved backup, all your prior settings will be restored.

Let me know this helps and if you have any questions at all! Thank you :folded_hands:
