Hi @W_Ermgassen,

We’ll need a little more description to take action on this report. There was at least one issue vaguely matching this symptom that was fixed in the most recent release, 1510.

Can you please elaborate on the specific issue you’re encountering, perhaps sharing an illuminatory screenshot?

At least one Roon remote in this setup is running a severely outdated build, although your RoonServer is up to date. Please update all of your Roon devices to build 1510 and let us know if you encounter this symptom across all of your Roon remotes.

We’ll watch for your response!

Hi Connor,

I put Albums into “Listen Later”.
I want to put them away:

A: First Problem

  1. Way → after that, there are always in the List:

SCR-20250305-indj.png
SCR-20250305-inpd.png

  1. Way - after that, they are gone

SCR-20250305-inwh.png
SCR-20250305-ioid.png

Unfortunately I found this out after some tries and now there always there.

B. Second Problem

I did same Albums to “Listen Later”, bought the CDs and Import them.

After that I’m not able to remove them. If there I change anything with the (number? #of) Versions, I’ve can’t remove them:

SCR-20250305-isde.png

C. Third Problem??

I don’t know why I’m not able to delete the last Entry.

If I try to remove some Albums (switch on/switch off all Versions, etc.) they are gone, but after the next Server Restart (Server very slow or an Update) they are in the List again.

I hope you can solve this, or this very helpful Feature ist worthless for me.

I send a Support-Ticket before, with Problems with Versions, Seek and other Things. I wanted to know, how to reorganize all indices, but I was not able to give better informations to this Problems. May be, this depends on failings in the Index… mainly with Version:

Albums are Twice under Discography, although they are Known as Versions.

Some Times the Version in the Library is not shown, but if I switch on the “In Library” - Button.

In the Search the Versions in the Library are not shown.

I made Placeholders in Roon for my Vinyls (1 Flac-File with Cover-Art). If I try to identify them, the Tidal-Version is gone forever.

I hope this helps.

Hey @W_Ermgassen,

Thanks for the follow-up! Let’s see if refreshing your RoonSever database may help. Make a fresh backup before performing any of the below steps:

  • Stop RoonServer from running in ROCK’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your ROCK’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Roon database folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database

Let me know if this helps! :raised_hands:

Hi,

you speak about the folder “RoonServer” in top of the Folder “database”?

Hi @W_Ermgassen,
Yes you want to rename the entire RoonServer folder not just the database folder.

That was no solution, no Reorg: with this the work of years is killed. The Tags with all of the informations are gone: everything…I’m stunned :sob:.

I switched it back…I wanted help for a Reorg of the indices, not a Deletion.

Hi @W_Ermgassen,

Thank you for your post and for your ongoing patience.

  1. The inability to remove items from Listen Later is a known issue - we have ongoing work that should be released in a future Roon build to improve this feature and we’ll certainly give you a heads up when we have an anticipated timeline to release. We’ll share your report with development to help expedite that work through the pipeline to release. Thank you!

  2. Concerning Versions, this symptom below is anticipated behavior when you’re viewing the Discography and have both a local library and a Tidal version of an object in the same format.

However, the discprenacy with the track length and Identify is something we’ll need to inspect more closely.

Please upload a copy of the Artificial Intelligence compilation album for our team to reproduce this issue: Media Uploader

You can merge these albums under “Edit Album” (three dots menu) in the meantime if you prefer.

Thank you!

I uploaded the placeholder-File…

The merge is not possible, if there is only 1 Version finally.

Hello @W_Ermgassen ,

Can you please clarify what you mean by placeholder-file? I am not seeing any uploads from you in our media uploader.

Does this mean the issue is resolved? Please clarify when possible, thanks!

No, it’s not resolved. I tried to upload.

Made it again…

Hi @W_Ermgassen,

My apologies for the confusion here. What are you referring to when you say ‘Placeholder file’?

As Connor has mentioned, we have a ticket in for the issue of not being able to remove a track or album from Listen Later - thank you for your patience while we work through it.

Are you referring specifically to the library ‘icon’ on the albums that you’ve added to your library? Specifically in discography, the library symbol doesn’t show up until you click the library focus button?

If so, we have a ticket in for this issue as well.

The more details you can share, the better. Thank you for your patience! :raised_hands:

Hi Benjamin,
I would like to be able to recognize in Roon whether I have an LP as vinyl. Since I don’t know what happens to my tags if I simply assign a tag to an entry from Tidal and I later cancel Tidal (are the tags on Tidal albums then lost?), I create my own entry. Of course, this does not contain any music (I only own the LP, but nothing digital). The imported directory then only contains a cover file and a flac file as a placeholder so that I can assign tags.
So that I don’t have different entries for the same album, I try to identify this placeholder (edit, identify).
I then expect this placeholder to be visible as a new version. Unfortunately, however, it often happens that the Tidal version “disappears” after identification and can no longer be found.
If there is a better way to display my vinyls in Roon: I would be very grateful for a tip .

The other problems are being worked on, so we should sort this one out first. I should probably have opened several calls on the various topics, sorry…

Hey @W_Ermgassen,

Got it!

So you’re trying to create a system in Roon to track your vinyl collection and ensure it’s easily identifiable alongside your streaming library. Since you don’t have digital copies of their LPs, you are creating placeholder albums in Roon by importing an empty directory that contains just a cover image and a dummy FLAC file.

Your goal is to:

  1. Tag your vinyl collection separately from your digital and streaming albums.
  2. Avoid losing metadata if you cancel Tidal (since you’re unsure whether your tags on Tidal albums will persist after cancellation).
  3. See both versions (your vinyl placeholder and the Tidal version) under a unified album view in Roon.

Here are a few alternative ways you could catalog your vinyl collection in Roon while keeping it organized and avoiding issues with disappearing Tidal versions:

  1. Use Custom Tags Without Creating Placeholder Albums:

Since your main goal is to track which albums you own on vinyl, you could:

  • Create a custom tag in Roon called “Vinyl Collection.”
  • Apply this tag to the corresponding Tidal/Qobuz albums instead of creating a separate placeholder entry.
  • This way, even if you cancel Tidal, you still have the tag metadata in your library (though the actual albums would disappear).

Pros:

  • No need to create dummy files.
  • Avoids versioning conflicts.
  • Clean and easy to manage.

Cons:

  • If you cancel Tidal, you’d lose access to the albums, but the tags themselves would still exist.
  1. Add Vinyl Info via Album Metadata

Instead of using a placeholder album, you could:

  • Edit the Tidal/Qobuz album’s metadata in Roon.
  • Add “[Vinyl Owned]” to the version field under Album Editor.
  • This will make it clear in your library which albums you own on vinyl.

Pros:

  • Keeps everything under the same album entry.
  • Prevents disappearing Tidal versions.
  • Easy to search for vinyl albums using Focus.

Cons:

  • Requires manual editing per album.
  1. Use a “Vinyl” Playlist or Bookmark
  • You could create a dedicated playlist or bookmark to track your vinyl collection.
  • If you prefer something more dynamic, you can use Focus filters (e.g., filtering by albums you’ve tagged as “Vinyl Owned”).

Pros:

  • Super simple to implement.
  • Doesn’t mess with album versions.

Cons:

  • Not as visually integrated into the album view.
  1. Create Placeholder Albums But Avoid Identification

If you prefer to keep your placeholder method, you should:

  • Avoid identifying the album in Roon (since that seems to be causing Tidal versions to disappear).
  • Instead, manually tag and edit the album’s metadata to reflect it’s a vinyl placeholder.
  • You could name it “[Vinyl Placeholder] Album Name” to distinguish it.

Pros:

  • Keeps placeholders as a separate, visible collection.

Cons:

  • Clutters the library with non-playable albums.
  • Requires manual metadata editing.

Let me know if any of the above options may better help your goals! :raised_hands:

Hi,
Thanks for the great work!
With number 4 I have another advantage: with the “in collection” button I can see my stock very nicely. I also use ARC at flea markets etc. to be sure whether I already own an album.
My only mistake was that I also identified the placeholders: I won’t do that in future.
With this step, I don’t have to maintain each record individually again.

Thanks again for the tips!
