I need to describe again: Got a new MacMini and wanted to set up the core on it. Remote would be any iOS or MacBook I have. That’s how I had it before on my old Mini.
Ever since the download for RoonServer was removed, install became a problem. Starting Roon on my Mini just gives me the large Roon interface, while the core server is installed (visible in Actrivityy monitor).
On my remote MacBook, however, I can’t make Roon to connect to this server. It always installs its own Core.
I even have a recent backup that allowed Roon on the Server to display a correct status.
Let me say that this is a new behaviour because I’ve set up Roon on several occasions already. That’s annoying.
Any ideas?
To confirm, you have Roon Server properly installed on the new MacMini you’re hoping to use as your long term server?
If so, this is a good first step. Closing out of the Roon app on this MacMini will not stop Roon Server from running. As long as you see the Roon jellyfish on your Mac taskbar, you’re in good shape.
When you’re in this state, navigate to Roon Settings>General> X Disconnect and from here you’ll be taken to a page where you can select your new Macmini as your Roon Server.
