Issue with Bose SoundLink Air

Does it stop playing after 20 minutes? Does is stop playing immediately when you enter the power save mode?

Note: The power button on my non-mobile wireless speaker only operates on the amplifier. The streaming module is always operational and so I can stream to it at any time – no matter if its On or Off. Music players have no chance to determine if the speaker’s amplifier is On or Off while playing to it.

dont understand… When I power off speaker by its remote it goes off; but roon zone shows playback continue; it doesnt stop even after 20min … its issue with roon apparently.

After re-reading the small font text again, it’s expected IMO as the speaker stays online when you power it off. If you stream from another source, your smartphone for example, does the stream end when you power off the speaker in the same way or does the other source also continue to play.
I don’t think that AirPlay has a way to signal the amplifier state (On/Off) back to the player application. For protocols where the speaker itself acts as the player, there might (or not) be a playback-stop-command be implemented in the firmware but for external players (like Roon) I don’t think that they can detect the amplifier state and the speaker is still online and can be played to.

duh, i dont know… when i do the same with b&w a5 which is also airplay all works fine, ie once powered off by remote roon zone immediately stops.

That sounds then like a firmware issue to me and you should contact Bose about it. But I’m just another user and not official Roon support - maybe they can say more about it, but as the Bose speaker is not Roon Tested maybe not.

I have no clue; if its firmware or roon issue I believe someone from roon can comment on this? @noris any idea? thanks

@noris is there any update to that issue or i have to wait for AGES?

another bug, stop then afterwards play doesnt work … no sound

I am wondering if the airplay implementation is buggy or these airplay HW speakers and their firmware…

Hi @John_Smith ,

Apologies for the delay! Our team’s queue is longer than typical at the moment, but we’re working to get back to everyone as quickly as we can, and it looks like we missed your reply here, apologies for that.

I checked the status of your case and it looks like we need some additional feedback here from our hardware team, I’ve just submitted the request and when this reaches their queue myself or another Roon staff member will get back to you, thanks!

@noris there is no update at all?

Hello @John_Smith ,

Thank you for your patience here! QA has been looking into your case and we are preparing a ticket for review for our development team.

As per policy, I cannot comment on a timeline of when the ticket will be reviewed by the dev team, but this is something that we are tracking and still looking into.

Thanks in advance for your patience here!

@noris
hello will u share the ticket number or its internal?

thanks

Hello @John_Smith ,

This is an internal ticket, there is no public visibility on this ticket, unfortunately. The ticket has been added to the development review queue, but based on company policy, there is no timeline that I can share of when it will be reviewed/addressed. Thanks in advance for your patience!

@noris how long do i have to wait? years?

4 posts were split to a new topic: Denon and Samsung Airplay issues

Why you are closing ISSUES that are not fixed? Why you are merging issue X with issue Y?

IT was clearly stated mute button is not working properly, 2y passed no fix/updatE???
