Have new Gustard A26. Roon keeps seeing another version that will not let me change settings to DSD 512. Why

Connected to Roon how? But anyway, it is usually the device that reports its capabilities to Roon. So if there is no option to select DSD512 at all, native or DoP, then it is because the device has not reported its support for any of those to Roon. You should contact the device’s manufacturer.

PS: Sending DSD512 to the device is pointless as the DAC can’t handle it. Only the (independent) XMOS device responsible for some of the inputs allows for that high input rate but ultimately has to down-sample then before sending off to the DAC (or the DAC down-samples). Hi @Harama,
Thanks for reaching out for help with this issue. I agree with @BlackJack’s suggestion above. Could you confirm with the manufacturer whether DSD512 is officially supported?

Let us know what they say, and we’ll be happy to continue troubleshooting with you!

of course the Gustard A26 supports DSD 512. Wouldn’t you already know this? Simple question, still can’t get a straight answer. wow…disappointing.

Can you describe how you have the DAC connected.

Hi @Harama,

We understand you’re frustrated. However, we don’t yet have sufficient information to take action here. You’re asking about a device from a manufacturer that is not a Roon partner.

Are you using Roon Bridge with this streamer?

Roon interprets the DSD capabilities for a device as they are advertised by the device firmware/driver. What you see displayed as this Zone’s current capabilities in Roon will match the configurations reported by the device. If you provide a screenshot of the Signal Path and Device Setup page, we can help clarify what’s wrong.

If we look at the manual for the A26 from Gustard’s, it mentions a function DSB Direct function that is disabled by default. Try enabling this function, if you haven’t already.

Please share how you have the DAC connected as well. Thanks!

I have a Roon Core (my homemade PC). Also have Roon Bridge, which all my zones clearly show. It is seen as an audio zone. The problem is Roon keeps seeing the Gustard Streamer/DAC as multiple zones. I have to go in and manually disable the other Gustard zones. Wonder why they don’t stay disable. Otherwise, the Gustard functions perfectly.

Running Linux? Windows? Connect to the dac via usb?

yes, windows. Yes, connecting DAC via USB.

I am definitely interested in an answer to this because I am looking to get an a26.

Did you install the drivers? Why not use Ethernet instead?

What??? Drivers for what???

it’s a pain, don’t go there. GREAT DAC but obvious Roon issues. Of course Roon support just AWFUL!!!

Grow up! you are not being particularly helpful. If you want support, give as much information as possible, psychic support is limited.

well, on a positive note I’m returning the unit. No time for this nonsense. BTW, the manaul does not address any Roon incompatabilities. But thanks for your advice. Be a little nicer next time!!!

you grow up!!! This site offers very little REAL support and answers!!!

looking for the driver

I don’t need to grow up baby, I’m with the band!

Hi @Harama ,

The DAC driver is needed to play DSD on Windows for certain USB devices, let us know how it goes after trying to install the driver, thanks!
