Describe the issue

Display feature not working

Describe your network setup

I am not able to view my listen through TV via display feature. According to google search, my TV supports chromecast (confirmed independently by streaming from my iPhone). Is this model supported? LG OLED65G6P?

Did you enable it in settings? It is a couple of step process. Make Sure your TV is on, go to Settings/Displays. If Roon Sees your TV it will appear, Enable the Display. Then, go down to the volume icon click on it, then click on the Display Icon, choose the Display you want the Queue of this endpoint to display on, Display Now. You can also choose whether to start on playback or not.

yes, I have seen those instructions (very basic, and sounds GREAT if it worked). I have my TV on and looked in the settings - this is what I get: “No available displays”. In my help request, I just hope someone can validate my exact model is supported or not, so I can put it to rest. I did also put feature request for Native (Roon created/designed) Apple TV app as this would more than resolve the issue for my needs.

thank you for the response!

Are you sure that the Chromecast element in the LG, I think it was, is on and working, aloso, verify that the TV is in the same subnet as the RoonServer, and finally make sure that a firewall is not blocking connection.

If I remember, the display chromecast option was tested for Chromecast hardware. Individual TV manufacturer’s may or may not have altered the Chromecast code and as far as I know, there was never any testing apart from actual Chromecast hardware.

The other way to view Display is any TV which has a browser option, if you go to Settings/Display you will see a weblink that you can copy/paste into a browser to act as a display. This can also be a computer, so if you want to see what the “Display” looks like you can demo it on any device with a browser.

Like a chromecast, once you have the web address up, the device should appear under Settings/Displays and would need to be enabled. etc.etc

Hello @Karl_Mayhew,

Thank you for reaching out!

While your LG OLED65G6P TV does support certain casting features, it’s important to clarify that webOS TVs, including your model, do not natively support Chromecast built into the system. Instead, apps like YouTube on your TV have their own built-in casting support, which can accept content cast from mobile devices — this can sometimes look and feel like Chromecast but is not true full Chromecast integration.

Because of this, casting directly to the TV’s main display from Roon is currently not supported. Since this is not a current feature of Roon, I would recommend also posting your suggestion in the Feature Suggestions section of the site.

If you’d like to cast system-wide using Chromecast features, you would need to use an external Chromecast device connected via HDMI.

Please let us know if you have any other questions — we’re happy to help!
