Issue with Roon Server (Rock) logging out of Tidal and lack of auto-reconnect feature in ARC (ref#LY906L)

Describe the issue

Occasionally my roon server (Rock) logs out of Tidal and when I’m in the car (3 to 4 hrs/day) ARC has no capability to trigger the server logging back into Tidal so I am without until I get home and can open a roon remote on the network to automatically log back in.
Can this auto reconnect trigger be incorporated into a future ARC update?

Hey @Psyclops,

Thanks for writing in!

Could you share the specific date, time, and name of the track playing the next time this happens? From there, we’ll enable diagnostic and take a closer look into what might be happening.

Do you have any VPNs or active third-party network software active when using Roon/Arc?

We’ll be on standby for your response

It’s not song specific, it’s intermittently when I get in the car, turn on android auto and start ARC it comes up with an error that Tidal has logged out of the server.

If Tidal is logged out when I fire up roon in the house (not via ARC) then it automatically logs back in, it doesn’t do this with ARC.

No VPN nor 3rd party software.

Hi @Psyclops ,

This is not typical behavior, your server should not log you out automatically. I am looking over your account errors and I noticed that when this happens it is usually because of a network related event. Are you still using default DNS servers?

We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let us know if it helps?

Since this is not a current feature of Roon, I would recommend also posting your suggestion in the Feature Suggestions section of the site.

Our product team and developers keep a close eye on that category, so that’s definitely the best place to propose a change like this and get feedback from the Community.

I have adjusted the setting as suggested and see how it goes.
It is intermittent so it may take a while to ascertain if it’s fixed.

Sounds good @Psyclops, we’ll be on standby for your follow-up. :+1:

So, just turned on Roon this morning and had the red box in the Roon remote stating Tidal failed to log in.

Obviously since I was using Roon rather than Arc I could select retry login - but still looked like the server issue is there.

Hi @Psyclops ,

Thanks for confirming that the issue is still active. I am looking over your account diagnostics and I noticed you have a TIDAL login error that looks similar to another issue we are investigating, let me check in with the team regarding this.

Logged into Roon Desktop this morning and had the Tidal Login Fail message pop up:

Obviously on Roon I can login easy enough so not an issue but this happened at 9.24am NZT if you want to find the incidence.

Cheers

Hey @Psyclops,

Apologies if this has been glazed over, but if you download the Tidal mobile app, do you have any login issues with the app directly? Or does this only occur through Arc?

For clarity, which DNS provider did you test out from your response above?

Since you’re using an Android device, can you test out downloading and installing the .APK version of Arc, and see if your issues persist? Download link below:
