Issue with Roon - Two Missing Nodes after Windows Computer Crash (ref#UATY7C)

What best describes your playback issue?

Is there a specific error message you see? If so, please select from the following options:

· Other

Please try to reboot your Roon Server and check to see if this helps.

· Rebooting my Server had no effect, the issue remains

Please try to reboot and unplug/replug in your affected audio device and check to see if this helps.

· Rebooting and unplugging/replugging my audio device, the issue remains

Please open your Roon Remote and select the "System Output" Zone and try to play to it. Do you encounter any playback errors with this Zone?

· I don't have a System Output available, but I'd like to keep troubleshooting

Please try fully rebooting your network equipment

· No, I'm still having trouble

An issue with playback on System Output and another zone often indicates a network security problem. *Check your firewall(s)* to ensure that *Roon*, *RoonServer *and *RAATServer* are allowed to properly communicate

· I'm still having problems / This isn't relevant to me

Does the issue happen with local library music, streaming service music, or both?

· Both local and streaming content are affected

Please try playing content of a lower sample rate (44.1kHz or 48kHz). Do you still have the same issue?

· No, lower sample rates are still affected

What is the model/manufacturer of the affected audio device(s) and the connection type?

· A Sugden A21 amp and a Rega am. A very complex system my husband set up with an audio technician.

Describe the issue

I have enjoyed Roon that was connected to 3 nodes (not remote). The Windows computer crashed (not the network) and upon reboot, two of my nodes (the ones for the best external speakers) do not appear. I tried all the empty nodes, no luck. I tried the node for my deceased husband's mobile (now disconnected) and voila, the music plays on the cheap speakers connected to the computer. NOTE: I did not set up this system. All the techno discussions on the website are WAYYY beyond me and everybody I know. HELP!!! I need phone support. Roon serves me a large collection of digitized music as well as Qobuz.

Describe your network setup

Modem/Router is Arris (I did reboot, no luck). Computer networking is ethernet. ing is

Hi @Steven_Hecht,

Thanks for taking the time to write in!

As a next step, could you please go to sonicorbiter.com and check to make sure your Office Sonore OpticalRendu is still in Roon Ready mode?

We’ll be on standby for your reply.

Hi, sorry for delay. I went to sonicorbiter.com - I saw two Sonore OpticalRendu listed there, but clicking Manage button, there were no results. No notifications about “roon ready”

P.s. I am also getting messages about “trouble verifying connections with our servers. Check internet connection.” Internet is running, what else can I check?"

and it’s in perpetual “adding music to library” attempt - in a loop…

Hi, I found this message back in 2023 from my deceased husband Steven (I am wife Dori, using his machine as a second User, struggling to cope!)
I looked for a BlueOS app on the Windows 11 machine (our server) and did not find one.

It’s great to see you on community again! I’m sorry to hear you’re running into issues with your Powernode. Based on your report above, it does sound like an existing issue we’re working through.

Please review the thread below for a known workaround:

Sorry, that info on BlueOs is not relevant. The BlueSound system is one of 2 nodes that are working.

Hi @Steven_Hecht,

Thanks for the additional info! I’m sorry to hear about your husband as well, I’m confident we can get your issues sorted out so we can get you back to enjoying your music.

Can you please give the issue nodes a reboot if you haven’t yet? It sounds like you’re experiencing a few different issues all at once. Let’s focus on the missing nodes first.

Are you able to use the nodes outside of Roon?

Perhaps your windows firewall could be blocking connection in this case. Are you able to setup a different connection to the missing nodes?

We believe the issue is linked to your office zone aka your Office Sonore OpticalRendu hosting the issue nodes.

This is good news! I’m assuming one of them is your Office OpitcalRendu’s?

Hello Benjamin, I can’t even identify the nodes that are missing except, “Office” and Living Room." So I wouldn’t be able to set up a different connection. (why would the windows firewall suddenly change, as soon as the computer went down?)

These are external speaker systems, high quality. . No, I don’t use them for anything else except the TV.

I have found both OpticalRendu boxes in the office and living room, with 4 connections. They are HOT so doing something.

I am having to piece together the configuration bit by bit. The best clue is a message from Steven in this thread, dated in 7/22, except he may have changed things since then. Metadata is working fine.

Another clue for you? in the library, all titles are DOUBLED.

There are other strangenesses, but that’s enough for now. I realize I have to really learn how this system works. Which may take a year or two, like it did Steven. (Your user manual is ‘distributed’ ;-{ I’d send you pictures if I could figure out how. Thanks ;-}

p.s. I have found Sonic Transport server on the PC- it may no longer be Smart Green Computer i5 as he said in 2022.

Because Windows can change it without your knowledge during an update.

so what’s the fix here?

Hi @Steven_Hecht,

There seem to be a handful of different issues going on within your system.

It may be worth getting in touch with the audio technician you’ve mentioned in your OP.

I’d give them a reboot.

And everything still works properly when you use the system outside of Roon?

Your local library doesn’t have anything in relation to your audio endpoints. For this, I would head into Roon Settings>General and see if you have “show hidden tracks enabled”

If duplicate tracks are still appearing, next head into Roon Settings>Storage and review your watched folders, do you have any duplicated folders being watched? Sharing a screenshot would be most helpful here.

Thank you :+1:

The technician is no longer available.

gone to sonicorbiter.com - see 2 boxes listed - under Manage there is only tech specs, no buttons to push.

Not even the TV is using these speaker systems. Only ROON did - before this crash.

Show Hidden Tracks Enabled is ON – I have a screenshot.

does this work?

To the right of your Sonictransporter storage there should be a 3 dot menu like in my screen shot below.

strong text

Click on the 3 dot menu and choose Disable. That should eliminate the doubling of your library.

This did not work.
Anyway, it was a side issue to my big one: back to Benjamin: how do I get my 2 best nodes back? I can’t imagine why a Windows Firewall update would mess with the speakers, which are networked only through the computer and served by Roon from there. Roon is the only access to those speakers. So what do we check next?

What’s probably relevant is that I cannot rouse the OptiRendu streaming services to the speakers through Sonicorbiter.com. What happened to them?

The living room system has mysteriously sprung to life. That makes me very happy - the best location/speakers. The only one missing now is the office. But I’m not going to mess with success at this point … will drop this thread for now. Thanks! Dori
[there’s so much more to learn] -

NOTE - there are so many other glitches in the system (nodes changing, empty nodes with specific albums listed) … that I cannot consider this successfully finished.
