Issues with audio source switching (766, 96, 44, etc.)

iMac, 21.5", 2012, 3.1 ghz, 16 gb mem, Catalina 10.15.7

Ethernet cable connected

Weiss DAC 202, USB (to iMac), Audio out to McIntosh C2200 preamp,

Description of Issue

Noticed last week post Roon software update, that during playback, the DAC not switching to match source material (176, 96, 44) – all at 48 hz – I know this was switching, but at some point quit. Also noticed this am if try to play back higher res material (like 176), plays but no audio. Didn’t know what settings for DAC need to be changed (again only change was to software, didn’t mess with DAC setup since original setup which was working).

Hey @Scott_Kelley,

I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you  . It took us much longer than we had hoped…

I was wondering if you’re still running into this? If so, could you please give us another opportunity to help  ?

Could you please share a screenshot of your Signal Path when playing to this DAC? Also, if you navigate to Settings → Audio and click on the gear icon next to your DAC, can you select a different (higher) sample rate? You may need to click on Show Advance on the pop-up window.

Rebeka,

I’m out of the office where this system is located but I’ll get back to you ASAP.

No apology needed - looks like you all are very busy

Have a great day !

Sorry for my late reply - been out & replacing music server - not sure this helps - but what it did in past was my dac202 would switch based on source - have that set on internal sync - at some point noticed that wasn’t switching based on source / was hoping there is something in my device setup with Roon that might be not right

Scott

Hello @Scott_Kelley,

Thanks for all that info! I’ve checked with our technical team and it seems that Roon is sending the information properly to your DAC.

I was wondering, if you stream to your DAC outside of Roon, can you play this kind of content?

You guys are correct - issue was a setting in DAC that I didn’t know could be set - once changed all good - Mr Weiss as usual was a great help - incredible equipment & his input always valuable

At least I know setting in Roon were good

Thanks for looking

Scott
