Issues with Double and Triple Albums on iOS Remote (ref#8QH2CI) [Investigating]

@Suedkiez any good news after the last EA update?

I haven’t looked yet. But there’s nothing related on the release notes and it’s not been very long since I’ve provided by backup to Roon Labs, so I don’t really expect a change yet. But I’ll try to have a look.

Right now it’s OK but of course I rebooted when the update was released, so it’s not been long.

Hi @Suedkiez ,

Please do keep us posted how further testing goes when you’ve had a chance to test out the new EA release, thanks!

I did a quick scroll through the albums by artist a few hours ago and so far it looked still ok

@noris here we go again. Sorting artist from A-Z shows 9735 of 8085 albums. Date added with newest first shows small, 8102 of 8085, off. This is on both IOS and Mac OS. This is after updating to the latest version. Come on guys and fix this annoying issue.
And the numbers are growing as we speak.

@noris The second day after the last update it went from about 9000 off 8085 to 15000 something. Then Roon starts getting super slow start playing tracks and opening the remotes takes ages to show albums. Maybe not so strange since it’s adding more and more albums. The final stage is when it’s loosing audio endpoints and a reboot is essential. Before last update everything was smooth and snappy. I feel like every new update is like playing Russian roulette and the last one is definitely no step forwards but two steps back. All this is happening just 12 hours after the last update.

Hi @BergeP,
Thanks for the update, and for narrowing things down.

You mentioned that the issue only appears with certain sorting options. When you change the sort setting, does the problem go away? If so, could you please share a screen recording showing the behavior? That would help us get a clearer picture and pass it along to our team for review.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi @daniel , after a couple of reboots things are working well for the moment🤞 As soon as I get the problem again I’ll will make a screen recording. Thx for follow up.
To answer your question, changing the sort settings does not make the problem go away in the affected settings.

Hi @BergeP,
Thanks for the update and for the answer to my question! I’m glad that reboots were able to solve the problem, even temporarily.

Thank you that will be very helpful!

I could repro the issue again. After a few days uptime and occasional Roon usage, I scrolled trough Albums by Artist just like in previous reports, using the scroll thumb.

Here I am supposedly at W, but the last W artist is Mike Watt, and then it switches back to F with Rosie Flores:

@daniel, Sorry but I can’t figure out how to add a screen recording so I post two screen shots. Is there another way for me to send you my movie?

Thank you for the updates @BergeP and @Suedkiez - we’ve included them with the development ticket. We’ll be discussing the current state of this issue this week, and I hope we’ll have some more details and next steps in troubleshooting soon hereafter.

Hi @BergeP,

Thanks for your patience here. This investigation is ongoing, but we’re making progress and should have a more fruitful update soon.

@connor , thx for the update. FYI last week I had all time high. It showed 32000 something of ca 8000 albums. Total chaos. This happened when I was adding and deleting albums from Qobuz. Hope you find a solution.

Hi @BergeP ,

Can you confirm you’re still seeing this issue on the latest Roon release?

Hi @noris , since the update makes a reboot and I always reboot one more time the issue is not here. Give me a couple of days to add and remove albums from Qobuz so I can see if it’s still happening. I will give you an update. Thx for your support.

I’m not @BergeP but I also did a quick check today after the Early Access update 4 days ago, and it didn’t reproduce. Though I’m not sure if I can trust this yet because I don’t know what triggers it if anything

I will certainly keep my eyes out, as usual…

Thank you @BergeP @Suedkiez @DDPS
