Double and triple albums on IOS remote

Describe your network setup

No need to

This has been a known issue, with many posts already, until this week’s release, which was supposed to fix it. Are all your devices on the latest release?

Yes, always

Can you compare the count when sorting by album rather than sorting by artist?

Date added is off, by artist is waaay off and album title is spot on.

Does removing the filter change the duplication? Because sorting By Artist and adding a filter seemed to cause it in some other known cases. E.g., in the thread that I already shared in your previous thread in Roon Software Discussion

No filter used

It was in your screenshot:

Yes it’s easier to show than take a photo of the hole library. As I told @DDPS there are different count of albums in different sorting. The sorting is done without any filter

OK, then that’s interesting info, too.

I’m on the new version this week and, for the first time in memory, am not seeing this bug right now. As a longtime reporter of this issue, I find this interesting. It doesn’t mean that this bug won’t re-manifest itself for me, but normally I would’ve seen it by now. The behavior reported here reeks of the bug I experienced in all versions prior to the current one.

@BergeP did you not see this bug before this week?

Hello @BergeP,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support.

Could you kindly clarify whether all remote devices are affected, or if the issue is limited to a specific device?

Additionally, please provide the OS version installed on the affected device(s) so we can try to replicate the issue in house.

Kind regards,
Vadim

@vadim thx for reaching back. Ok here we go: my library has 8058 albums.
Album title, from top to bottom and bottom to top, correct on all devices.
Date added, also both ways, correct with oldest first and small differences, 8058 vs 8112, with newest first.
Artist from Z - A good on all devices. From A - Z 8058 vs 15622.
Devices are:
iPad mini IOS 12.5.7 all good
iPad Air dedicated to Roon, only showing cover art, IOS 18.4.1 is not correct.
iPad Air daily use, IOS beta 18.5 beta 2, not correct
iPhone, IOS beta 18.5 beta 2, not correct.
MacBook OS 15.4.1 all good.
Both iPad Air and iPhone are showing the same result.

@DDPS
No, came after the last update.

Hi @BergeP ,

Is there any difference in behavior if you try to delete and reinstall the Roon app on the iOS device? I tried to reproduce on my end on iOS, but the count appears to be stable no matter which sorting algorithm I use. I noticed most of these albums are from Qobuz, if you try to disable Qobuz in Roon Settings → Streaming Services, is the count then always accurate?

Hi @noris , I tried the delete path on one of my iPad’s but no luck so I ended up rebooting all my stuff and so far it’s working fine. Let’s hope it’s stays this way. Very strange thing.
Thx for helping out and happy Easter.

Hi @BergeP,
Thanks for letting us know that deleting the path didn’t make a difference. I’m glad to hear Roon is back in working order for now! Please keep us posted if anything changes—we’re here to help.

It’s happening again.

Starts when playing playlists.

I still have it too (case one from the previously linked thread) and the duplicates were all over the place, quite far away from each other in the list and quite many.

On macOS, sorting was albums by play count and a filter was engaged.

When scrolling the albums in this state, I got dizzy because I never knew where I was among the many duplicates, triplicates, etc.

@daniel Yes! Here we go again. Sorting albums by artists A - Z my library is growing while watching. Roon is just adding more albums.
