Describe the issue

KEF LS50 wireless 1
Recently - I'm not sure the exact start time, but there have been several Mac OS updates recently - I have lost some functionality with the LS50s.
I have done factory restore on them, and set them up again. They work fine with the KEF stream app.
The problem is:
1. When they are on standby mode, Roon does not see them as an endpoint. This is new. Previously, they were still there and would wake up when I played music to them via Roon.
2. When I 'shuffle' anything (either any of my playlists, or a Roon playlist, or shuffle all albums or track) playback stalls 1 second from the end of any track, and I have to skip to the next one. This only happens with the LS50s, not on my Linn Kiko system, or my MacBook, or Sonos speaker, or an audio interface I have connected to my Mac. All of those work fine.

I have had the following setup for about 18m/2y:
MacBook Pro 2023 16" M2 Pro chip Sequoia 15.3 - this is my Roon core
KEF LS50 wireless (1)
Linn Kiko DSM
Sonos One
Hyperoptic Router (the KEF and Linn are wired connections via ethernet cables to the router)

Describe your network setup

I notice similar issues, the KEF I have will show sometimes and not show other times. I think whenever the server (ROCK/NUC in my case, all wired connections) is rebooted and the KEF are in standby they do not show back up until I start them up. But then when they go back into standby, after a time, they “time out maybe?” and do not show in Roon. Like they have a “standby” and then a “deep sleep standby” or maybe truly turn “off” the connections?

Just a question for you, Have you checked for firmware updates? Not that this will help the above issue but is worth looking into for the WiFi and other updates they have made for stability.

Thanks. I have checked firmware on the KEF, all up to date.

I have resorted to just turning them on when I need them. Just wish the remote was better…

Hi @Simon_Downer ,

Can you please reproduce this action and let us know the exact local time + date when you next observe it? We’ll enable logging for your account to see if the Roon logs perhaps have any clues.

Similarly, can you let us know the exact local time + date + track when you observe this? We had a change in a recent Roon release around this issue, but it looks like perhaps it may not be fully resolved if you are still seeing the bug.

Roberta Flack Hey, That’s no way to say goodbye
Play stopped at 4.07 of a 4.09 track. Didn’t move on.

I will keep trying to reproduce the loss of endpoint when in standby, will keep you posted. It appears to be working this morning, which it hasn’t done for >1week. Not sure what changed (other than I did a lot of rebooting of all of my devices)

also, 11.14 GMT
Herbie Hancock Both Sides Now
playback stopped on 7.38 of 7.39 track.

Both of these are shuffling from a playlist I created.

Plays through an album without problem.

This is definitely not resolved. See also:

Still waiting for a fix or any info.

Hi everyone,

A fix for the underlying mechanism for this symptom will be included in the next Early Access release.

Please keep an eye on the Early Access section if you’re interested in testing; otherwise, you should see the fix progress into a public Roon release in Software Release Notes.

Thank you for your patience.
