Issues with Qobuz synchronization and missing library data after v2.71 update (ref#CPHB6G)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Music won’t play or issues with my library

Music won’t play or issues with my library

· Streaming tracks greyed out or unavailable

Tell us what's going on

· v2.71 just installed on a TrueNAS server.
Browse > QOBUZ shows all Favourites and good.
My Library only shows the eight Qobuz albums I just added via Daily Picks. Synch does not fill out the (600+) missing albums. Restarted TrueNAS and a step backwards: now, not only do I not have my previous Qobuz favourites (Clean up tells me there are 5084 files to be deleted which corresponds to the missing Qobuz files as I am pretty rigorous in keeping this value to zero) yet also Focus is missing any values under Album Type | Other | Labels | Storage Locations etc when they were ok prior to the reboot and after the update. Added in last 3 months is ok so db is partially ok.

Tell us about your home network

· Running on TrueNAS server. Network seems fine - able to browse and play Qobuz; as mentioned, can add new Favourites - these synched back to Qobuz as I can see them in their standalone App.

Second reboot resolved FOCUS issue - data returned. Qobuz synch outstanding.

Hey @Jon_Evans,

Thanks for the detailed report! We were able to review a fresh set of Roon Server logs, and they made this easy to pin down. First, the reassuring part: nothing has actually been lost. Your Qobuz favourites are all still safe in your Qobuz account, your local music library and Roon’s database are intact, and this is fully recoverable.

Here’s what happened. When Roon updated to v2.71, its local cached copy of your Qobuz library was emptied, right before the update the logs show Roon holding your 419 Qobuz favourite albums (5,104 tracks), and immediately after the update that dropped to zero. The catch is that Roon’s “last synced” marker did not reset at the same time. So when Roon syncs with Qobuz, it asks “what’s changed since I last checked?”, Qobuz correctly answers “nothing,” and Roon leaves the library empty. That’s why syncing and rebooting don’t help, and why only the handful of albums you’ve added since (your Daily Picks) are showing up, those came in as genuinely new items.

The two other things you noticed are side effects of that same event, not separate problems:

  • The ~5,084 items Clean Up wants to delete are exactly those missing Qobuz favourites, now showing as unresolved. Please don’t run Clean Up. It would permanently delete those 5,000+ entries along with any tags, edits, or playlist placements attached to them. Once we restore the favourites, those entries simply reconnect instead.
  • The empty Focus categories (Album Type, Labels, Storage Locations, etc.) are just Roon rebuilding its browsing indexes after the reboot, they’ll repopulate once the library is whole again. Your database is healthy; it loads cleanly with no errors in the logs.

To recover, in order of preference:

  1. Restore a backup from before the update (before roughly 5:00 PM on Aug 4). Your automatic backups have been running and succeeding, so this is the cleanest route, it brings back your favorites, tags, edits, and Focus data exactly as they were.
  2. If you’d rather not roll back, force a fresh full sync: go to Settings → Services → Qobuz, log out, then log back in. That resets the sync marker and makes Roon re-download your entire favorites list from scratch, which will also refill the Focus categories.

Either way, please hold off on Clean Up until your favourites are back. Thank you!

Really appreciate the insight into the issue. Restore made from the 1st - I see Qobuz favourites up to the 1st yet not the latest batch (from yesterday), nor did it remove the batch I un-favourited on the 2nd. A new addition does synch back to Qobuz.
I then did a Service log-off > (reboot on second attempt) > log-on yet the Synch remains unchanged.
