It’s past due for Roon Labs to replace Tidal with a genuine Hi-Fi music service

I just dropped Tidal, as so many audiophiles have done recently. The quality of their music files continues to decline, and MQA is lossy and noisy, ESPECIALLY unfolded MQA wrappers masquerading as red book 44.1/16. At the same time the HIGHRESAUDIO music service continues to improve, and this service focuses on word-length, and not sample rate. That makes an audible difference. 24 bit sounds better than 16 bit. Roon Labs, please add HIGHRESAUDIO.

Thanks,

Kurt

What add odd request. Must be the first #roon:feature-removal-suggestion.

Use Qobuz and let everyone have the choice.

That’s a good suggestion. But why would Roon Labs support a lossy and noisy music service like Tidal and not add truly lossless and high-res FLAC services? Services that include Amazon Music HD, Apple Music HD, and HIGHRESAUDIO. I believe this a valid and overdue topic.

This is an opinion, and not relevant in #roon:feature-suggestions. The MQA debate is for other forums / threads, and you should post there.

Many Roon customers choose TIDAL for various reasons. Why would you want to deny others choice?

Sure, my topic heading is provocative, and Roon Labs is obviously free to at least attempt an agreement with other high res music services at there will. Whether Tidal is removed as a service is also entirely the choice of Roon Labs.

I’m a Roon subscriber because I listen to, and support, music reproduction of the highest quality, and find Roon to be a good way to achieve those goals.

See my comments on this above.

Mate do a search it’s all been discussed to death.

This discussion is not ideal for #roon:feature-suggestions, and should be moved to an off-topic thread.

Again, a question that has been discussed to death.

Roon will partner with any service that will supply the necessary interface and data drops that Roon needs to present their vision of what a music app should be.

All of the services you have mentioned either won’t supply the necessary data or don’t care to interface with Roon.

Roon will never drop Tidal, even if your recommendation to do so was a valid point, because Roon needs the buy in of streaming services to stay relevant and Tidal and Qobuz are the only two that will play.

BTW - I left Tidal and went on Qobuz for the reasons you mentioned. Feel free to do the same.

Moved to services discussion area.

Tidal at least has virtually global coverage, Qobuz hasn’t discovered Africa yet, it only just discovered the Southern Hemisphere

Use what you like. I use Tidal, Qobuz, and Apple Music (not in Roon of course). Each has it’s purpose and place for me.

If you really want to do that I suggest you purchase it. I have nothing against streaming but if you make quotes like that……

Because Tidal MQA offerings sound better than Qobuz.

Mods have closed this thread as the first and last posts are little more than an effort to restart the MQA wars. We have left the posts up as examples of the kind of low content trolling posts that will NOT be tolerated.

Moderators are resolved to never see this endless, pointless back and forth bickering again. If you want to start or participate in it you will not be doing so on this Forum. Consider this a final warning.
