I recently bought an album in DXD 32bit. The largest track (~5,15Gt) is not showing in the album. I have the same album in DXD 24bit, and with that the same track is showing normally (~1.82Gt). Is there a max file size limit in Roon that is causing this? Can this be fixed?
Is your track on a local drive on the Roon Server? or on a network drive?
What is the file system of the drive holding that track?
If you were using a network drive, make a copy to a large enough USB thumb drive formatted as exFAT or NTFS, remove the album from the network drive. Plug the thumb drive to the Roon Server and try it there.
I noticed that your 32 bit version is WAV. I’ve seen Roon have problems with 32 bit versions of different file formats (like mp3, for instance). What happens if you convert it to FLAC?
(For reference, the largest file I have in my collection is 24-bit DXD and is 2.83 GB; Roon recognizes that just fine. I do have this, which is 32-bit DXD, but no files on this record are larger than 1.22 GB. Like yours, these are .WAV format and Roon recognizes them just fine. So perhaps it’s a combo of file size and bitrate? But there could be simply a file size limitation that I haven’t encountered.)
Is this a limit on the EXT4FS file system of the RoonOS?
You know, that 4Gb is the cap on files on a FAT32 file system, and i’m thinking this might be a similar issue.
Yes, i realize that the filesystem does support huge files, but i’m thinking that maybe Roon OS put a cap on file size?
And @Sebastian_Wallenius , i suppose that the media drive is initialized from the ROCK web based user interface?
Hi guys, problem solved, there was probably something wrong with the file itself:
I started to look at how to convert the wav file to flac, and noticed that if I open all the tracks in Foobar2000, the last track was missing the metadada. After this I downloaded the album again from where I bought it and unzipped it. Now the files were .m4a, not .wav. The metadata showed correctly in Foobar2000 and now the whole album including the last track is showing up in Roon as it should.
