I heartily agree: definitive. Kurt Elling, one of my favorite contemporary jazz singers, has a great album celebrating the Coltrane/Hartman collaboration. Worth checking out if you don’t know it already…
Another vote for Talk Talk - Laughing Stock & Spirit of Eden. On theme Mark Hollis self titled was good, Lee Harris ‘O.Rang’ well worth a listen & Paul Webb ‘Rustin Man’; his albums with Beth Gibbons of the early 2000’s. I didn’t overly enjoy last year’s release where he sang & haven’t heard this year’s release.
Bill Callahan - which then often leads me to Lambchop.
Mark Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon
Neo Classical (too many to name here)
Minimalist electronica (too many to name here)
Nick Cave - Ghosteen (must have the lights out )
