Leaving in pause state

Why is there not a stop option? I am worried leaving in pause forces me hard drive to be constantly active for hours at a time. Can anyone advise?

There is a Stop as a Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl-T.
As Ludwig says, Pause doesn’t continue drive access.

Long pressing the Pause button stops playback as well.
