Let's talk (show) guitars and gear

Get it! How much. Mine 800 + tax on reverb. FB MPlace no tax

Way more, they were asking $1399!

That is MSRP

I never looked if it was a new one :hushed:

A friend wanted to sell his Fender Jaguar…it was candy apple red (an option at that time). However, he wanted an untenable $200 for it and case. It was in great condition but, at that time, seemed very old and without value. It was a 1962.

Oh my, coulda woulda shoulda, right? Where was that crystal ball when you needed it?

I had a '68 Stratocaster that I bought used for $800 in the early '90s. It was every penny I could scrape together and still a bit beyond my means at the time. A few years later I wasn’t playing as much and needed money to pay for a semester of college. I sold it for $1,200. I knew I had bought at a fair price and sold for a small profit. Plus all the enjoyment was pure profit.

The college degree has certainly paid for itself many times over. Still I wish I had sold a kidney rather than that strat. It was like butter. It almost played itself.

A 59 Les Paul sunburst was $80k when I moved to this city. A guy on a race car forum bought one for $175k (and that seemed incredible), yet today... Received an offer for an L88 69 Corvette coupe with 72 miles on it for $3350. Declined. Sold Ford GT Heritage for $380k, some bring $700k now. Liquidated an early SRV Strat believing it had no future value. Would like to sell Marilyn Monroe and Harley Davidson diamond dealer Strats. Regrets are an expensive emotion.

P.S. Some of the greatest memories are not of profits but of what-if.

P.S. It is called the Zeigarnik Effect (remember unfinished tasks more easily than completed ones) and that includes relationships, rearing children, career choices…

We enjoyed this (somewhat dated) history/video on Prime especially the perspective and rational on vintage guitars…and why.

So…despite my resolve to sell guitars and not buy anymore…well this happened!
Tbh Im not concerned as I had sold 4 and only bought one so I’m still right side up.

PRS Hollowbody 1, few road warrior marks which is why I was able to pick it up for a very fair price.
And talking of pick it up…this sucker weighs around 6lb and yes you can really tell the difference, it’s a slung around your neck and shoulders all day type of weight!
