Describe the issue

After doing the latest update to room, my library disappeared. I can't select a portable drive plugged directly into my Mac. The default "add folder" starts with the Mac hard drive and it won't let me go back one step.

Hey @Darren_Allan,

Thanks so much for writing in and sharing your case!

Sometimes Mac firewalls can reestablish restrictions during an update, could you please double-check your Mac firewall and ensure Roon is listed as proper exceptions to your firewall? Here’s more info on this:

An easy way to test this is to temporarily disable your mac firewall and see if the drive becomes available. This is not a long-term solution though - just for testing!

Could you share a screenshot of this? If all the permissions and share settings have been set correctly, the drive should show up on the left-hand list (if it’s indeed plugged directly into the machine you’re running Roon Server on.)

Here’s more info on setting up proper share settings on the drive/folder:

We’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks!

This was all working perfectly before I did the update.
My Mac is called “Darren’s iMac” and the drive is connected to Darren’s iMac. The arrow to go back a step is greyed out so I can’t select my iMac to show what is connected to it.You’ll see on the right of the screenshot, the connected drives.

Hey @Darren_Allan,

Thanks for the screenshots! Did you review and of the firewall troubleshooting steps I’ve mentioned above?

With that, could you also navigate to your Mac System Preferences → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders, and then check that Roon and/or RoonServer have access to your removable volumes. If they don’t, turn it on. If they do, try toggling the setting to off, then on again. Then restart Roon and/or RoonServer.

Let me know if that helps!

No, nothing helps.
All that you suggested is as it should be.

This was working perfectly well before I did the update.
Help appreciated as I now can’t use something I need and paid for simply because an update from Roon killed my settings.

Sorted.
Had to reboot my Mac.

Thanks for the assistance and glad I’m up and running again.

Darren

Rebooting router and Roon server solves many problems. It’s one of the first steps to take if you have issues.
