Library issue and audio device detection problem after update to 2.65 on ROCK (ref#TVJGNS)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

Tell us what's going on

· I am running a ROCK on a NUC10DFNH. I made the update to 2.65 and after restart I get an error message there is a problem with my library. Also no audio device is detected. I tried to restore from a 2.64 backup, same problem. After a reset did not help I reinstalled ROCK which now runs on 2.0. I could do the backup and it runs fine. As soon I do the proposed update again I have the same problem. I have thousands of Albums in the library and really don't want to rebuild it from scratch. What can I do to update without breaking the library or how to update in recover from a backup if the first part does not work. Thanks much

Hey @sudschulz,

Thanks for writing in! Sorry to hear about your post-update issues. It looks like you’re running quite an outdated version of Roon currently, build 1303, while the current build is 1653.

After you perform the update, what does your Roon Settings > Storage look like? This would be the best next troubleshooting step, and will help us determine if there’s a break in your network shares or local shares to your watched folders.

We’ll be monitoring for your reply and, if possible, a screenshot of your storage settings page after you update to the latest version.

Thank you!

Hi Benjamin, thanks much for your reply and support. I did not always run on the outdated version (I believe). Before I made the update to 2.65 I was running on 2.64 and have always made the updates for all devices when I got the update message. It was only after the 2.65 update my library was broken. I could not see any Audio devices. The whole Audo page was empty and I had no storage location. After several tries to restore and reset things, I finally decided to re-install ROCK from scratch using the image that is linked on your ROCK page. I think this set me back to version 2.0 or build 1303. But at least I could restore my latest backup and Roon runs fine on this old version without loosing my library with 1800 artists and 8500 albums. Of course I am getting the update notice every time I open the remote app. I have now done the update again to provide the information you asked for. As expected I get the following message.

This time I could do nothing even after restarting the App (I tried PC and iOS). I have renamed the RoonServer folder on the ROCK and restarted. Then I can sign in and set up Roon. As soon as I restore it crashes the library again. I have now set up everything new. All the music is there but of course alll my customized Albums are messed up an covers are missing. The storage looks now again as before in the new setup.

I would still appreciate if you could let me know how I could restore my library from a backup.

Thanks much

Stefan

Hi @sudschulz,

Thanks for the update! Unfortunately, your recent Roon Server diagnostic report is only showing your current, fresh Roon Server instance, and everything seems to be functioning normally.

Based on the screenshot and the issues you’ve described, it sounds like the attempt to restore a backup from such an outdated build is resulting in database corruption.

Do you have any other backups you can try?

If you could reproduce the issue, and not immediately reinstall ROCK, that might help us get a clearer server diagnostic report to analyze further.
