Linksys mesh and Roon Arc

Hi,

Yes. Unfortunately Roon ARC isn’t working with CG-NAT (now).

You could call your ISP and ask if the can give you a public IP. Sometimes they charge you an extra amount.

Kind regards,

Maarten.

Where did you find this @Maarten_Duits ?

This is the go-to article for diagnosing your Roon ARC port forwarding issues:

They say in there there’s no easy way to tell if your ISP is doing the CG-NAT (carrier grade network address translation), so that’s why we want to do everything we can to make sure we don’t have the configuration incorrect on our end, the “Type A” issue the article describes.
But: @Michael_Evans1, you said you requested a static IP from your ISP? Did that come through yet? And: are we sure your ISP performs CG-NAT? I’m going to reach out to them myself and see if they’ll answer! heh

I called up your ISP there in the UK. It’s afterhours, but they were friendly. YES, they do CG-NAT. They offered to check and see if you had requested a static IP, but had multiple “Michael Evans” in the system. They confirmed that Yes, you’ll need to ask for a static IP to get that WAN changed to something that Roon ARC can use. Then you can follow regular Port Forwarding procedures that I linked above.

The other option for you to consider is a third party VPN that offers Port Forwarding. There are several of them. You would compare this against VPN technical difficulty (more) + monthly cost VS Airband static IP monthly cost + technical difficulty (less).

These details on Airband ISP in UK should be helpful to other users, so I’m glad we’re putting our work here on the forums so folks can search and find it.

A massive thank you to all of you fantastic people for helping me with getting Arc up and running.
The answer was to get a static ip and… It just worked.
Couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you all again.
