Describe the issue

LINN device disappear from Roon Ready after restarting Roon Server. LINN device as AirPlay 2 device is visible. For the last month I have been experiencing this problem with Roon Server version 2.0 (build 1483), LINN device is Davaar 108 Build 550 (4.108.550).

Reboot the LINN device and it will appear as a Roon Ready device.

Describe your network setup

Nucleus - L2SW - LINN Selekt DSM

Reboot the LINN device and it will appear as a Roon Ready device.

Uploaded logs to the “Logs Upload Server”. The name of the log file is XVVDGG.zip.
The Roon server is restarted before and after 21:00 UTC time on 12/01/2024.

@ucchi ,

Presumably your Roon Server is running on your Mac? Roon Support is currently working on this issue.

Thanks for the follow up. Roon Server is running on Nucleus.

From my long-ish experience with Roon>Linn (4 different Linn systems currently)

  1. The older (Linn Streaming) Roon>Linn connection method seemed quite sensitive to reboots & the like, maybe because IP addresses get changed when devices come up and ask DHCP for an IP address. I resolved most of those issues by assigning fixed IP addresses to the Roon server and Linn endpoints, but now and then would still need to power-cycle the Linn endpoint, for example after coming back from time away.
  2. For Roon Ready Linn endpoints, that does not seem as much of an issue. In any case, if you can tell your router set up fixed IP addresses, why not?

@ucchi ,

Apologies for overlooking your mentioning the Nucleus. Yes, it’s odd. I don’t have a Nucleus although it’s not unusual albeit uncommon for a device not to connect on a reboot. Sometimes it does occasionally take a second reboot.

You could give that a try along with double checking for loose connections as well. Should that not do the trick hopefully you will be hearing from Roon Support shortly as they return from holiday in the morning.

You are not alone. I got the same problem with my Linn Selekt DSM and I have DHCP activated.

I am also on:

  • Roon Server version 2.0 (build 1483)
  • Firmware: 4.108.550

Have even tried Linn FALLBACK, but that did not fix the problem.

Using NUC13ANHi7 + Roon Server.

@Torben_Rick ,

Please select “Enable” in the settings that you presented or am I missing something? Is it that your settings won’t stick as well and leave the Linn visible. Your saying you frequently are required to “Enable” your Linn as well or does the device disappear?

@ucchi @Torben_Rick ,

Similar problem and I see that both of you are using brackets in naming your devices ()

Please remove the brackets to see if you notice a change. Roon Support can check with the developers to see if that’s permissible. It probably is but perhaps its not.

I think you are missing the point here. I am not using airplay so there is nothing to enable.

Torben

@Torben_Rick ,

Yes, I missed that point thank you.

No, I am not using Airplay.

@Torben_Rick ,

Yes, I understand now. My apologies

I wonder if it’s to do with changes in the latest DS update? There was a fix in 4.108.550 for Roon Ready devices hanging when entering standby from Roon. This firmware was released on 19th November.
I had the device hanging issue since the previous firmware build was released back in the summer, and 550 fixed that, but I guess it’s possible something else was disturbed when this was sorted.

Michael.

Hi @ucchi,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. This comment by @Fernando_Pereira contains good advice. LINN device disappear from Roon Ready after Roon Server restart (ref#XVVDGG) - #7 by Fernando_Pereira Can you please try it and let us know the results?

Hi @daniel @Fernando_Pereira
Thanks for your advice.

I have not checked if the IP address of Nucleus or LINN Device has changed before or after restarting Roon Server.
I did not reproduce the problem after changing Nucleus to a fixed IP, restarting Roon Server, and restarting Nucleus. I will keep an eye on this for a while.

I am still checking with support on how to fix the IP address of the LINN device, as the method of assigning a fixed IP address to the MAC address is not available in my environment.

Hi @ucchi Normally this can be done in your router. I use Fritzbox 7590 and there it is easy to change.

For years I have just activated DCHP setting (keep 10 days) in the router (Fritzbox 7590) and had never problems with my Linn Selekt DSM.

But, I have now assigning a fixed IP addresses to the Linn Linn Selekt DSM and Roon Server.

Good luck for your :slight_smile:

Torben

I received an answer that I should use a router to fix the IP address, DSM players cannot fix the IP address.

Many (most?) routers have admin access via web or app that allow telling the router’s DHCP server to assign a fixed IP address to specific devices. This can be found in the documentation for the router.
