Linn streaming stopped working after recent update on QNAP TS-453B (ref#JURVS9)

· No, lower sample rates are still affected

· Various, as mentioned: iPhone 16pro; ropiee (on raspberry pi); B&W Foundation soundbar.

Describe the issue

My setup used to work fine, but a few days ago - possibly related to a room update - all linn streaming in my home stopped working. Arc playback from the same core (with the same files) is still fine. I have 3 clients that are all affected (iPhone, roopiee, b&w soundbar). Core runs on a qnap ts-453b - slight under spec, but fine for my light use.

Can you snap a screenshot of your Roon Settings>Storage to confirm you still have a proper shared connection to your local library?

How is the Linn device connected within your network ecosystem? Can you set up a direct ethernet connection to both your Roon Server as well as the linn device, and see if your issues persist?

I’d give all components a reboot as well, including your router. Be sure to stop Roon Server from running prior to shutting the machine down. We’ll be on standby for your reply

The ropiee is affected. Both core and that one are on the same, wired network. Same subnet. No firewall. No special routing.

Long tried. Long failed… didn’t yield any different behavior. Also note: this worked without fail for months.

It’s local on the same qnap the core runs. Also see image.

Are you using the correct Linn subnet under Roon Settings → Setup (bottom of list)?

Good idea to check it, but it’s correct. Devices and core are on 192.168.0.x and so is the linn streaming.

Finally I could spent some more time on it. It looks like streaming via Linn protocol is not the culprit at all. Not directly anyway.

A few recently added AAC encoded albums (AAC encoding by accident ;-)) seem to be the “killer”. Other titles can be played, but as soon as one track from one of these albums is selected, streaming for all stops. No error reported, but playing anything will just result in silence and no playback progress.

At the same time playing the same tracks via ARC still works.

About to re-add with lossless codec as soon as I get around to it.

Seems one can get the decoder to fail silently and clog up the system….
