Linux hqplayerd password?

I’ve been messing with this for a couple of hours. For some reason, nothing I do will reset the hqplayerd password, so I’m basically locked out of it. Does anyone know how to fix this? The instructions say this:

hqplayerd -s
or
hqplayerd -u

It depends on where you look. Neither of these does anything. I’ve even done an apt-get purge. I’ve removed the non-login user and tried again.

No dice. I’m stumped.

I figured it out. Had to purge hqplayerd, remove vestigial directories and the default user. Start over. Change the password on the command line. Stop and start the service. A little complicated, but once working–not so much.
