Linux updates seem to be stuck?

Linux only question - running 20.04.5 LTS server (headless) and seems to be stuck on applying 2 sec updates (for quite awhile).

  • Thoughts / Ideas?
  • Is 20.04.5 still a good / supported version?

Bumping this…Bueller…Bueller?

Check how the package configuration is on your machine and verify (your own) config settings.
Then find out which packaged block the updates and fix depencies (check the log file that is refered to on the error message).
Duckduckgo for error messages and find solutions to these errors.
A lot of these problems have solutions or solving methods on the net.

Check the Ubuntu website for an EOL statement on the version you use.

Do not expect others to be able to solve your problem, no one has access to your system, configuration files and logs etc. but you.

My tip:
Backup your Roon database (and other important stuff) and save it on another machine.
Install a new Ubuntu LTS version, Roon server and restore the backup and files.

Done this several times myself without problems, but YMMV.

Be absolutely sure you backup all you need before you install the new OS.

I suppose you mean Ubuntu, so yes

It was to difficult for the OP to find that out so you had to guide him/her?!

Sign of the times; people need to be told what to do without even trying themselves.

Agreed. I’d also recommend that if one chooses to run a Linux system one should learn how to maintain a Linux system. Even if the OP reinstalls, there will be a future update with a dependency issue that must be resolved manually. It just happens.

  • My sincerest apologies Peter
  • I assumed stating “20.04.5 LTS server (headless)” meant Ubuntu - if that’s not the case, again my sincerest apologies Peter and to anyone else of my assumption. I was merely asking if this build was still good in the context for roon.
  • I did do some initial debugging without results and in hindsight, should have stated that and what I did. I was totally unaware that one could search for errors on this new thing called google, I’ll give that a whirl
  • My bumping / Bueller statement was meant to be ahem…funny
  • It is definitely a sign of the times, ooy

Hei,
No problem, and… i do not know what “Bueller” means
Regards, Peter

Never heard that either. Now I searched for us both

I have seen the movie, but did not know it was a reference to it.
Was more thinking in lines of a Swiss word because of the nick “swisstrip”.
Anyways, i was not curious enough to actively look it up, but thanks for doing so @Suedkiez
