Listen Later 🕐 Feedback Thread

The workaround is to remove it from LL before adding to your library.

In case you do not forget to remove from LL before adding to library, yes.

If you forget though, the steps outlined by me do the trick (for local albums). That’s what I was looking for yesterday.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. That doesn’t help removing that first album added to LL (incidentally, the album causing me issues was already in my library.)

Just have to live with it until there’s a fix.

I am wondering why we would want the action of adding to library to remove from Listen Later? That would mean I can’t add albums in my library that I notice I haven’t listened to for ages to Listen Later? Surely the only reason an album should be removed form Listen Later is if you have listened to it?

Thanks for asking ! For me, “listen later” was to select unknow albums, while browsing Qobuz for example, not to forget to listen. Before “listen later” I used to add them in the library, and remove from library if i didn’t like them. I didn’t think at all this feature is to “listen later” albums that was already in the library ! I have not this need, in fact.

It shouldn’t do that. It should work the way everyone wants it to work.

Find music from whatever source that you would like to listen to later.
Press Listen Later: it’s added to a fully sortable, easy to manipulate list, with full menus and play options.

That’s it.

Anything else is annoying and no better than adding and tagging, which is the way we’ve been doing it all along.

I thought I’d try clearing ARC:s cache, but no dice. Still can’t remove Little Creatures. Currently gone from Roon client, but if I restart the server it reappears.

I understand, we all use it differently perhaps :+1:

Just a quick note to say how much I love this feature. Great way to remind myself what I didn’t have time to listen to, and even easier to use than tags.

Unfortunately, still having issues removing albums from LL. Server on NUC, Remote on Windows 10. Both are running the current PRD release.

I’ve just made an interesting observation about Little Creatures, which is a local album added to LL.

I deleted the local album (Edit → Delete album), and the album disappeared from LL. I then went to Settings → Storage → Clean up library, and there was just one entry listed. So, I removed this entry.

Now, Little Creatures is no longer shown under LL for both Roon and Roon ARC, even after a server restart. :+1: But, Little Creatures wasn’t deleted from my library … just the (single) LL entry.

Is that a bug or a feature?

I think it’s a big fat :bug:!

@mjw , a feature like this shouldn’t be difficult to implement, and testing shouldn’t take this degree of effort. Fingers crossed they get it right on the next update.

They also have massive paid beta testing groups, though. It’s not really a comparable situation.

My remark was in reference to „EA is free (and often ignored, it seems) beta testing by users.“, because it sounded as if its existence was a bad thing. Just saying that whatever Microsoft and Apple do before they release a public Beta, the public Beta nevertheless exists, and for good reason.

Fair enough.

Love the feature - it is similar to a tag that I had that I call just that, “Listen Later”, and yet… let me put it this way… if it comes to a choice between getting rid of ARC or getting rid Listen Later, I say drop ARC.

ARC was a feature I never asked for. Listen Later is a feature I did not realize I needed. Kudos

It’s not so good for my wallet as I’m now keeping a closer eye on what I want to purchase. When I used a playlist for this function, I started a new one each month, so albums got missed.

But yes, it is a welcome feature, and will be excellent once the bugs are ironed out, and we have play actions added to the play buttons.

Albums don’t seem to be removed after playing them on Arc or Roon itself.
