Greetings,
Please add the feature ‘Live Activities’ to Roon for Apple iOS. It would allow quick access to the Roon app on the Lock Screen for iPhone users.
While there are no live activities as such, you can enable lock screen controls in the Roon app > Settings > Setup, and during playback you also have control via the iOS Control Center > Now Playing
That’s it. Thanks.
Why is the feature still in Beta?
I don’t know, it’s been in Beta forever, but it works fine for me
What I do notice, is that it drains the battery on an iPhone like mad. Any way to resolve that?
Not for everyone, I believe, but it still affects people. If you search for this, you will find lots of previous discussions.
They released several rounds of improvements and the most recent one wasn’t not too long ago:
but it obviously still doesn’t cover all cases. The only way to get this solved is by opening a new topic in Support to let them investigate what’s going on for you
Well, it’s not ARC. It’s Roon that drains the battery when the Lock Screen Controls (beta) is enabled.
I am sure that many people reported drain for ARC, there are lots of threads and posts about it. So if they were not all wrong and misattributed it, then ARC can do it. (Great if it doesn’t for you
- or me, though I think it could be better for me, but it’s difficult to say because whenever I use ARC I also have the display constantly on).
I have had Roon lock screen controls enabled for years and for that I would say that it definitely does not drain my battery, at least not that I ever noticed, but I turned it off now to see if there is a difference.
By the way, I have just learned that volume in the lock screen control is problematic if your streamer volume is controlled by Roon and not fixed:
