Roon Live Radio not working
(issue at a friend of me where I installed Roon some time ago and did work fine)

Describe your network setup

* Standard network set-up (Router from Internet provider - Telenet in Belgium)
* Router directly connected to a Linksys LGS 310C switch (with Cat 7A Installation cable) where NUC with Roon Rock, QNAP NAS and Rose RS150B Streamer are connected
* Roon works perfectly for music playback from NAS and Qobuz but Roon Live Radio does not work for streams which are working fine for me (see attached example)

I tried some links at my friend’s place working fine for me but not playing at his place eg VRT Radio 1 is playing fine for me (we both use the same internet provider) :

Some streams do play but more like a rarity.
My streamer is the Rose 150A model (so very similar set-up like mine).

Your friend is likely missing the codecs to play the streams. See also:

Please check the Roon web panel (in the QNAP administration). It is likely that codecs of your QNAP System’s ffmpeg binary had been stripped by the update. If the Roon Server web panel indicates “System default”, try to download ffmpeg for amd64 architecture on johnvansickles website and add it manually. Thanks! I checked and we have both the same version of that codec… We’re both using a NUC running Roon Rock. The QNAP Nas is used as a music library.

Unfortunately, without any of your friends information, we’re not able to provide much assistance here. Are they able to create their own support request?

From there we’d be able to enable diagnostics on their Roon Server for additional investigation.

One thing they can try in the meantime is changing their DNS server from their host machine. We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?

Issue solved with a new copy of the ffmpeg file to the Rock codec folder.
