· Dear Roon Support, My Roon has been behaving strangely for the past few days, and I would appreciate your help. The issue concerns listening to internet radio stations via Live Radio. When I listen to a radio station, Roon is now saving all tracks played by the station into my “Recent Listening” history/calendar as if I had manually played them myself. However, I am not selecting these tracks - they are simply being played by the internet radio stream. In addition, my radio listening time is now also being added to the calendar every day. Previously, Live Radio content was not counted in “Recent Listening.” On top of that, some of the tracks played through Live Radio are also appearing in “Recent Activity” (seemingly at random), which creates a lot of clutter. My concern is that this may be affecting my music recommendation algorithms, as radio stations do not always play music that reflects my personal taste. Unfortunately, over the last few days, all of this content has started being recorded in “Recent Listening” and partially (randomly) in “Recent Activity.” Could you please help me understand what might be causing this and how to fix it? Thank you for reaching out and providing the screenshot! I can completely understand why seeing unexpected tracks cluttering up your recent activity would be concerning, especially when you are carefully curating your music recommendation algorithms.
To give you some peace of mind right away: Live Radio will not skew your track recommendations. Here is exactly what is happening under the hood and why those tracks are appearing:
From a technical standpoint, Roon does not have the ability to “see” or parse the individual songs playing inside a live internet radio stream. There is no mechanism or database instance within Roon designed to extract track metadata from a live broadcast and save it into your “Recent Listening” or “Recent Activity” history. When you tune in, Roon only records that the station itself was played (which is why you see the “Radio 357” block in your screenshot), but it is completely blind to the specific songs the DJ is playing.
If you look closely at your screenshot, the tracks listed next to Radio 357 (by Mrozu, Dawid Podsiadło, Jackie Evans, and The Rolling Stones) all have the TIDAL logo in the top left corner.
This tells us definitively that these tracks were streamed directly from TIDAL, not extracted from the Radio 357 broadcast.
Thank you for your explanation. I understand that this sounds difficult to believe, but this is genuinely happening on my system.
I would not be raising this issue if I had actually played these tracks myself. The songs played on internet radio are really making their way into my listening history.
Below, I am attaching screenshots showing:
today’s original Radio 357 playlist from their website, and
my Recent Listening, which is full of tracks that were played on the radio today and that I never manually played myself.
I am also attaching a screenshot of my Queue, where you can clearly see the tracks I actually played manually. In Recent Activity, there are additional tracks appearing in between the ones I played, and those tracks are not present in my queue history.
I did notice the TIDAL icons and understand your point. However, for some reason, Roon seems to be pulling these tracks from TIDAL and adding them to my activity automatically.
I hope the screenshots help explain the issue more clearly.
I think you are conflating Roon Live Radio (streaming from an internet station) with Roon Radio (that selects tracks from your local library and from any streaming services you are subscribed too (Tidal, Qobuz, KKbox).
Roon Radio (enabled / disable on a per zone basis) automatically selects and plays tracks that are similar to a seed (could be a track or artist).
These Roon Radio tracks are recorded in your play history.
I suspect this is what you are seeing.
You can disable Roon Radio from automatically starting from the queue page in the Roon App.

Actually looking again ignore the above I’m mistake
I then thought you where playing a playlist called “Radio 357” not streaming from Live Radio.
With the tracks in the playlist list are Tidal tracks.
However, that playlist is not a Roon Playlist, it’s just a running order of tracks from that station’s website.
So I’m unable to offer a rational explanation
Roon support should be able to check your Roon systems log to dive deeper into this.

I am definitely not confusing Roon Radio with Live Radio, these are completely separate features. I fully understand how Roon Radio works, and when enabled, tracks selected by Roon Radio naturally appear in the Queue history and listening activity. However, I do not use Roon Radio and always keep it disabled, so this is not the case here.
I have also been using Roon intensively on a daily basis since 2019, so I know the platform very well. This is not user error, an accidentally enabled feature, or a misunderstanding on my side. I have never experienced this behavior before, it only started happening a few days ago.
Regarding the “Radio 357 playlist” screenshot: by this, I did not mean a playlist that I was playing in Roon. Radio 357 is a live internet radio station, and the “playlist” on their website is simply a history/log of tracks that were broadcast live earlier that day.
I shared it only to compare what Radio 357 actually played live that morning with what unexpectedly appeared in my Recent Listening history in Roon. The tracks match, which is exactly why I believe something unusual is happening, songs played live on Radio 357 are somehow making their way into my listening activity, even though I never manually played them.
Today, I did not manually play anything from TIDAL at all, I only listened to Live Radio throughout the entire day. My Queue is empty, exactly as it should be.
However, my Recent Listening is completely filled with all kinds of random music coming from the live radio stream.
What is even more concerning is that I can now see this content appearing in my listening statistics and summaries, such as “Your Top Artists” and “Your Top Releases” effectively distorting the recommendation patterns and listening profile that have been built up over many years. This is exactly why I am concerned that something is not working correctly.
Just to confirm: this is a bug. From our internal testing, it’s only affecting the Radio 357 feed, but we do track from this station erroneously appearing in Recently Played.
The team has a ticket in the pipeline for a fix and will notify you here once it’s released in an Early Access build for testing.
This ticket is proceeding through the pipeline and we expect it to be included in one of the next several Early Access releases for testing. While we don’t have an exact timeline for release at this time (this fix was not yet included in the latest EA release), we will notify you here once we confirm the fix is ready to ship.
