Description of Issue

I’m trying Roon for some days now. But I have a strange problem with live radio. Live radio works perfect on my Denon 150 WLAN Box and my old squeezebox radio. But when I want to hear live radio on my ps audio device, it stops often or have little breaks. I can hear tidal on this device without problems. Or stream 192/24 Flac or DSD with room filters from my synology nas, where the core is running. But live radio with it small bandwidth don’t work. Tried with 10 different stations (also big ones).
Can anybody help me?

Thanks
Michael

Hey @Michael_Dorn,

First off, welcome to the community! We’re excited to have you here, but I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with live radio in Roon.

Since some time has passed, I wanted to check in to see if you were still running into audio dropping out when streaming live radio. If so, could you please reproduce the issue and share the specific date, time and radio station you were playing?

I’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks! :+1:

Thanks for your reply. I had to check again, as we were on family holiday.
I tried it the last half hour with cafe del mar radio from spain. The radio stopped twice. First time after 2 minutes (14:28 German time). And then again 2 minutes ago (14:51).
There comes a fault message that the station is not available or changed adress. But I can hear this station for hours on my other devices.
I have no problems with tidal or local music from my NAS even with dsd128 on the ps audio. Only with live radio. I also don’t have problems when I hear internet radio on the ps audio and start it via the mcontrol App. Very strange.

Thanks for the update @Michael_Dorn!

As a next step, lets refresh your RAATServer database.

You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

I’ll be on standby for your reply. :+1:

Hi Ben,

I bidded for a refurbished mini pc, that have more cpu power than my synology nas. Then I will create a separate Core for roon; music stays on the NAS. I hope that alle problems will be gone then. I keep you posted.

Thanks and nice Sunday.
Michael

I installed the mini pc with i3 and ROCK yesterday. It seems that the problems are gone. Thank you for your help. But it is still strange, why it worked well with music in high quality and had problems with the small datastream of radio.

But the best thing is: it also sound much better. More stage (in width and depth), smoother and more detail. I’m happy .
