Loading Roon server without Roon client on MacOS

Is there a way to start Roon server on a Mac without starting the client?

How do I start the Roon Server

OK. In this case, you can start it manually. Unfortunately, the Roon Server launcher is hidden inside the Roon app package, so you have to go there like this: Finder > Applications, find Roon and right-click it. In the context menu, click Show Package Contents. You will see a folder, Contents. Enter it and you will see the RoonServer launcher. Double-click it to start RoonServer. You can also drag the icon to the Mac’s Dock.

Ok, but the Roon server package itself contains the Roonappliance.app which is the client. So doesn’t it launch the client too?

And… if I kill the RoonAppliance process in activity monitor, it is automatically started again.

No, the client is “Roon”. I only run the client and this is what’s running:

RoonAppliance is, I think, a necessary component of RoonServer and it gets started by RoonServer. That’s why it comes back if you kill it.
