· I'm running Roon 2.62 on one mac as my server. I'm running Roon 2.62 on another mac as my remote, connected to the server on the other Mac. One the Roon remote Mac, the audio devices on that Mac (local devices) don't appear. I can't have audio play to the speakers on that Mac or to the audio interface connected to that Mac. In the Audio settings page, nothing appears other than devices in the "connected to Roon server section" and the "other network devices" section. All those devices are the devices on the Roon server Mac.
There were a couple times over the months where after leaving Roon running for a while, the local audio devices would randomly appear for a short period of time, but then disappear. That hasn't even happened in a while. This is preventing me from using Roon which makes me sad. I'd love to keep the service if I could just use it in this seemingly simple setup.
Since you’re running macOS, the behavior you’re seeing is consistent with the newer, stricter Local Network permission controls in the recent macOS releases.
Please try the following steps:
Open macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
Make sure Roon and Roon Server are both enabled
Even if they are already enabled, please toggle them off and back on
Fully quit Roon Server from the macOS menu bar / task bar
Reboot your Mac
After reboot, launch Roon again and check if the devices is avaliable again.
Once these permissions are refreshed and the system restarted, your audio devices should reappear.
Please let us know if the issue persists after these steps, and we’ll continue from there.
