Will Lock Screen Controls ever make it out of beta status? It’s been in beta for many years. I use it frequently.
I’m trying to disable it but the setting in Settings, Setup in Roon has no impact. I can’t turn it off and wish to.
I did some quick testing.
If I’m streaming to my iPad, which I’m also using as the remote, then Screen Lock Controls works whether or not it is toggled on in settings.
If I’m streaming to another endpoint, again using my iPad as the remote, then Screen Lock Controls only works if toggled on in settings.
My research shows that Apple really doesn’t want ‘Now Playing’ to be disabled. All of the previous methods no longer work with current iOS.
I’m streaming from the iPhone I want to disable the lock controls. I think I’m out of luck.
For others looking to disable lock screen controls this worked for me. Set the setting then hard boot phone.
To disable the ‘Now Playing’ controls on your lock screen in iOS 18.2, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and turn off the option for Live Activities under the “Allow on Lock Screen” section. This should prevent the media controls from appearing when your phone is locked.
Oh nevermind. It worked for a while but the next day the Lock Screen controls came back.
