Describe the issue

I launch Roon and get a ‘Try different device to login’ message and I don’t have a different device, just my iMac.

Describe your network setup

My network is all ethernet on a dedicated server that has been woking for seven years without a hiccup. Yesterday the power went out for about an hour and I cannot get back into Roon. I get a “Waiting for your Roon Server” and a “Select a different Roon server" link. I do not have a different Roon Server.

Hey @mnilan, welcome back to the community.

Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like the sudden power outage caused your iMac to lose its saved connection path to your Nucleus.

To get back up and running, please go ahead and click on that “Select a different Roon server” link.

Don’t worry—this won’t actually require you to have a second server. Clicking that link simply resets the application’s discovery process and prompts your iMac to scan your network from scratch. Your existing Nucleus should appear in the resulting list of available servers. Once it pops up, just select it, log in again, and you should be good to go.

Let us know if you are able to successfully reconnect after trying this step!

Hi @mnilan,

Wanted to follow up on this. Were you able to click Select a different Roon server on the iMac and let it rescan the network so your Nucleus could show up again? If it appears in the list, select it, log back in, and see whether the connection comes back after that reset of the discovery process. Let us know what you see.

Please note, if we don’t hear back from you this thread may close automatically soon. If the thread auto-closes and you need further assistance, please submit a reopen support request via the technical support help form below and specify that the issue should be reopened. Thank you.

Noris:

Thanks for checking. I don’t know what happened to cause the outage but after shutting everything down, I launched Roon the next moring and everything worked as usual. I don’t know the details of Roon well enough to go directly at the issue but all is well now. So, thaks.
