I have problems logging in and it looks like my core does not work on my server. The log in problem is probably because of the two-factor login process, which I have not initiated but still is needed. When I look at the Core that is installed on my Qnap-server, it says that it is not logged in. Results in that I can not find the Roon server from my iPhone…..
Lots of strange problems. Can you please help me.
Best regards , Lars
Describe your network setup
The Roon core is running on a Qnap TS-464eU, server
I am using IPhones, IPads and Mac-computers as interfaces
Running multiple Roon ready streamers in multiple rooms
Then it is useless to search for Roon OS servers as you obviously run a different OS (QTS or QuTS hero).
You need to be able to find your Roon Sever from a client (PC, phone or tablet) running Roon to be able to login (activate the license for the Server).
So this probably leaves you with the 2FA as source for your trouble. Please check your account to see if it is activated and if you can do something that help you overcome the issue right there.
Welcome to the forum! As @BlackJack mentioned, it is normal to not see any RoonOS devices in that screenshot since you are using a QNAP server. I noticed in the background the QNAP server shows, you are saying that if you try to connect to it it doesn’t work? Are there any specific error messages that are displayed? I would also double check that you have allowed Local Network Access on your iPhone in iOS Settings → Apps → Roon → Local Network Access is turned to On.
Since this is my first time I am using the support, even if I am using Roon since 2016, I probably need a little more help than the average user.
Yes, I agree that it is the 2FA that is causing my problems. I am unable to start the Roon core on server (I have followed the instructions and downloaded the app from QNAP). I have re-installed it, no changes. I have used this configuration for 4+ years, no problem whatsoever. The problems started a couple of days ago when I logged out and the in again…
What I will do first is to try to solve the issues with the server. How do I solve that problem?
I have checked so that my iPhone is allowing Roon to use my local network. Regarding the server, I need to double check. But I have been using it for 4+ years, without any problems.
Hi @Lars_Granbom,
If your 2FA is giving you problems we can have our accounts team temporarily turn it off for you. Is that something you want us to do?
Thank you for your reply and sorry that I am a little slow with my responseI have a very heavy workload and don’t always have time to fully engage in my “problems” at home.
Yes, please turn it off and I will try to start everything up again.
As I have written before I have used ROON for a number of years and always using QNAP servers (even if my newest is only 3 years old, not 4 as I previously wrote ). Everything has been working smoothly and trouble-free. And since I have a number of streamers in my house from different brands (AVM, Arcam, EC etc.) I want to have one interface for all of them.
Hi @Lars_Granbom,
I’ve asked our accounts team to get into contact with you about your 2FA. Keep an eye out for a private message from them. Let us know if there is any change after your 2FA is turned off.
I have tried to clear the cache, but without result.
I have multiple problems.
I have installed ROON on my Qnap server. When I click on the icon it says ”Not logged in!” When it is working OK! There no such message.
I can only log in on my iPhone, and only to this community.
My monitors (iPhone, iPad etc) cannot find the Roon server. When the Roon app on the server is running it connects immediately.
When I try to log in on the Roon app on the iPhone it still ask for my 2FA.
I start to feel a little stupid, but the fact is that I have a masters degree in electronic engineering and I am very used to solve hard- and software problems. But this beats me
I am greatful for all your help. Please try to solve this. If you need my personal contact information I can send it to you.
Roon Server is installed as Admin. Please make sure the Admin account is enabled on your NAS. I would also login as Admin prior to click on the Roon Server symbol on the NAS. That always worked for me.
PS: This is all just about the web server on the NAS and the Roon Server app website that opens when you click on Roon Server on the NAS. It has actually nothing to do with the Roon Server software itself running or not on the NAS – but being able to see the apps status page helps tremendously in troubleshooting any issues with the Roon Sever software.
