Describe the issue

My Roon Server shows as ready when I open Roon. When I click "connect" it asks me to login. I do so through the browser and the Roon app window pops back up, but it does not login. If I click "login" again, the cycle simply repeats.

Describe your network setup

I just want to say that I understand that this issue has come up for others in the past. I’ve tried (I think) everything I’ve seen in other threads, and nothing works.

This happened all of a sudden with Roon. I’ve been using it for about two years, with server in the same place, no updates to operating system, etc.

The only recent thing I noticed is that starting about two weeks ago, I was no longer able to log into Qobuz. Then, as of a few days ago, I cannot log into Roon at all.

Hey @David_3,

Thank you for reaching out as soon as you discover you had trouble logging into your Roon account. We’re really sorry to hear it, but we’d like to do all we can to help.As a first step, could you please try to log into your Roon account page? Is that something you can do?

https://account.roon.app

If the trouble is logging into the Roon software, it is worth noting that the process involves logging in via a web browser. The pop-up might be blocked by the default browser, depending on your settings. In that case, there are a few things that can help:

  • Rebooting your Roon Server

  • Clearing the default browser’s cache and cookies

  • Temporarily changing your default browser

  • Checking to ensure that you don’t have popup or cookie blockers preventing the redirect

Do you happen to see an ‘InvalidCallback’ error when attempting to log in?

i was having the exact same issue earlier today. Have a lifetime license too. I could log into my account here:https://account.roon.app

but on a loop when trying to login in through ios both on iphone and ipad. Two friends had the same issue.

It now works fine so assuming something at Roons’ end.

Hello,

I have done all of those things. None of it helps. The issue is not a popup blocker, becuase the Roon app does open up. It just contiues to show the “login” and “start free trial” buttons and does not log in.

I am logged in to you Roon account page.

Same issue. I can’t login either

Hi @David_3,

Thanks for the update and I’m sorry to hear you’re still having issues logging into Roon.

From your account admin, it doesn’t look like your Roon Server has been online or active with our servers for almost two weeks. Can you confirm that your server is turned on and running?

Here are three ways to manually start Roon Server from your windows PC:

Method 1: Run the executable directly

The RoonServer executable is located at:

C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\RoonServer\Application\RoonServer.exe

Navigate there in File Explorer and double-click RoonServer.exe, or run it from a Command Prompt.

Tip: AppData is a hidden folder. You can paste the path directly into the File Explorer address bar, or press Win + R and type it there.
Method 2: Search from the Start Menu

Press the Windows key and type “Roon Server” — if it’s installed, it should appear in the search results and you can click to launch it.

Method 3: From the system tray

If Roon Server was previously running, its icon may still be in the system tray (bottom-right of the taskbar). Right-click it and choose to start/restart the server.

Thank you!

@Riaz_Charania @Stephen_Randall if you’re still having issues logging in, please create a fresh support thread via the support typeform. Thank you :folded_hands:

Yes, RoonServer is up and running. The status says “Roon Server Status: Running” and it has shown this continuously.

Thanks, glad I’m not alone in this. Sounds like a Roon issue that they need to address more widely.

Why do I have to create a fresh one? It’s just going to be the same problem.

You weren’t asked to create a fresh support request - @Riaz_Charania and @Stephen_Randall were asked to create their own support requests.

No more help from Roon here? Seriously?

It’s been the weekend - Tech Support don’t work on the weekend.

Hi @David_3,

Sorry to hear you’re still having issues.

Do you have any VPNs or active third-party antivirus/security software within your network?

Can you please also confirm all your Roon devices are functioning across a single local subnet, and not spread across more than a single subnet?

And if you haven’t yet, I’d temporarily disable your windows defender/firewall and see if you’re able to login afterward. Thank you!

Hello, I don’t have a VPN, I turned off AVG and Windows Firewall. Still get the same problem.

Roon devices are all across a local subnet.

Hello @David_3 ,

We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?

If this does not help, can you please access your Roon logs by using these instructions, upload a set to the link below, and let us know once uploaded?

Well, the problem was VPN after all, but in case other people run into this: I have Mullvad but I did not have it turned on. How did I know that? It wasn’t in the task bar (or hidden task bar) and it always has been in the past. So I had no way of knowing it was running without doing other checks. Turns out it was, so turning it off fixed the loop problem.
