Looking for the best portable DAC/AMP for iPhone with Roon ARC?

Using a pair of CA Bonneville IEMs with my iPhone and just moved from FiiO BTR7 to Cayin RU9 and love it. The BTR7 was awesome, but as soon as I heard the RU9 & tubes I didn’t look back. Plus the Magsafe makes it nicely portable. Highly recommend either depending on your budget.

I use both a dongle dragonfly cobalt and an ifi Goliath from my iPhone to drive my campfire andromedas.

Both sound great to me!

I’m using the BTR17 from Fiio in both desktop and Bluetooth mode. Together with its internal battery and Roon’s Opra features the setup is delivering a superb listening experience at least with my IEM and RX70 from Audio Technica.

I have used resonessence Labs with lots of pleasure

Thanks, Peter. I’ve just bought the Mojo 2 myself and I’m really impressed with it so far. The sound quality is excellent, especially with my Sennheiser IE 600s. I agree the button combinations take a little getting used to, but after a few days they start to make sense. Keeping the manual on your phone is a great tip. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I actually own the HD 800S as well. They’re absolutely superb, especially for detail, imaging and soundstage. I’ve mostly been listening to them without EQ because I enjoy their presentation as they are, but like you, I enjoy experimenting with Roon’s DSP every now and then. The Mojo 2 drives them surprisingly well too. If you get the chance to try the 800S, I think you’ll be very impressed

I completely agree. I found the controls a bit confusing at first, but after a couple of days they became second nature. The sound quality has really blown me away. I’m using mine with the Sennheiser IE 600s and the HD 800S, and it’s amazing what Chord has managed to achieve in such a small, portable device. I can definitely see why the Mojo 2 has such a loyal following.

Thanks for the suggestions. Personally, I’m not really a fan of dongles. I prefer a dedicated DAC/amp, and the Mojo 2 has been fantastic so far. The sound quality is outstanding, and I like having something with its own battery and more flexibility than a phone-powered dongle.

Does anyone have an official Chord Mojo 2 leather case for sale? I’m after one in excellent condition and would prefer a UK seller. Please let me know if you have one available. Thanks!

It’s not easy to get the chance to find one for testing purposes. But I’ll keep it in mind.

I really liked Sennheiser until recently. The balance in recent models is somewhat disappointing. I’m still searching for the ideal headphone. Luckily they don’t take to much space so you can have multiple

Enjoy the hobby:guitar:

I’ve been looking for one too, without success.

Chord tell me that they are redesigning the case, to better suit the new 3.5/4.4mm model (while retaining compatibility with the older 2x3.5mm model); presumably just a larger hole for the 4.4mm connector. That probably explains why no-one has it in stock.
