There’s wide variance in sound quality from USB between different DACs, from those (like my Soekris dac1541) where USB is competitive with other inputs to those (like the original Holo Spring I used to own) where USB is clearly the worst source. My favorite source at this time for DACs that take AES is the Pi 2 Design Pi2AES (with a Pi 3 or 4). Tested with Soekris dac1541 and Schiit Yggdrasil A2. Pi2AES also takes a small additional board to feed I2S (RJ-45 or HDMI) to DACs that support that input, with reportedly excellent results.

I’m in the SW of England and even we can’t agree on jam or cream first - Cornwall vs Devon and all that. And then there’s how you pronounce it. Scone rhymes with bone. Vs scon rhymes with don. And you thought MQA was contentious.
