Describe the issue

Firstly for last 3 or 4months I did not login roon appli. I have just succeeded to log in but such data as library used before, audio devices seleted etc. are not available (disappeared) and so I can not enjoy listening music. This is the problem I am facing. Please let me know how to fix this problem.

Describe your network setup

Network is working very well including network connected to window PC I am using. Any other devices connected to network are also working well. This circumstance is completely same as I used to use Roon until 3 or 4 months ago.

Hello @bmwm3

Thank you for reaching out. To better understand what happened, could you please clarify a few points:

  1. Are you using the same device (computer/server) for Roon as before?
  2. Have you at any point deleted Roon files or folders from this device?
  3. Do you have a backup from your previous Roon installation?
  4. Did you reinstall Roon recently, or are you running the same installation as before?
This information will help us determine why your library and device settings are missing and guide you on the next steps.

Hello @bmwm3

macOS Sequoia (version 15), has tighter (and more obfuscated) network security settings than preceding MacOS versions.

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon and Roon Server are allowed.

If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

To log in to the Tidal service, you need to go to Settings → Services → Tidal and log in via the SSO

Hello Vadim

  1. PC used is not Mac but Window based.
  2. Thanks your advice. But after clicking TIDAL, " Something went wrong —" message appears like screen shot attached.

Regards,
Kazuo

You were showing your private email address in your screenshot so I’ve blanked it out for you.

Good day @bmwm3 !

I hope you’re doing well today .

From the analytics data report we could see that your previous installation had a local library on local network shared drives.

Could you please clarify whether you still have your local music files there and whether those locations are still connected to your Roon Server (Settings → Storage) ?

Regarding the Tidal login: we might not be 100% sure from that screenshot what exactly was the problem, but we do recommend you to try to login to it again using VPN service.

Also, you’ve mentioned that you cannot see your audio devices in Roon.

Can you please specify whether you have differentiated subnets in your local network and confirm that PC hosting Roon has the same IP range as the audio endpoint (f.i. both PC and Audio devices should have ip like 192.168.0.xxx) ?

Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards

Hello Alex,
Thanks your advice.
I provide you with more information as follows.
I clarified that I have all the music data installed in two music servers (Buffaro DELA N1 and I-O data FIDATA) without loosing any and those locations are still connected to my Roon Server as screenshot attached.

As recommended by you, I tried again to login Tidal using ExpressVPN. But the result is the same; Error message: Something went wrong ----.

Regarding your request and question " Can you please specify whether you have differentiated subnets in your local network and confirm that PC hosting Roon has the same IP range as the audio endpoint (f.i. both PC and Audio devices should have ip like 192.168.0.xxx) ? " I can not answer by lack of network knowlegement except IP issue. Yes, both PC and Audio devices have IP like you mentioned.

For your reference I suceeded to login Tidal and connected Tidal with Esoteric network player through Esoteric Appli and can listen Tidal music.
This means my window based PC and other music devices are well conncected in network working well and only Roon appli does not work.

Waiting your reply.

Hello @bmwm3

Would you kindly let us know the regional setting on your Windows PC where the Roons server is installed?

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Time & LanguageRegion.
  • Here you can see:
  • Country or region – your current region.
    Please share the screenshot here

Hello Vadim,
Here is the screenshot you asked me.
Kazuo

Hello @bmwm3,

During the review of your logs, I noticed an error that occurs when the regional settings are set to Tai.

Could you kindly try changing the regional settings in Windows as follows and then test the behavior again:

  • Country or region: United States
  • Regional format: English (United States)
  • Calendar: Gregorian
  • First day of the week: Sunday

This adjustment should help us determine if the issue is related to regional settings, particularly the date and time formats.

Hello Vadim,

I am waiting your answer and information for solution.

Regards,
Kazuo

Hello @bmwm3

Probably you have missed my previous reply

Hello Vadim,

I did as you advised. But Nothing has been changed in Roon behaviour.
Don’t you think Roon appli should be reinstalled ?
There are two Appli installed with corresponding two icons. One is Roon and the other is Roon server. If you agree, please let me know the step how to reinstall those appli.

Kazuo

Hi @bmwm3,

To confirm, after you updated your calendar settings on the machine, did you also fully reboot the computer as well?

Without a backup, you’d lose all your saved settings and customizations, unfortunately.

Hello benjamin,
No way. Even without past data I want to use Roon again. Can I reinstall Roon Appli ? If there is something to take care in reinstalling, please let me know.
regards,
Kazuo

Hey @bmwm3,

Yes, below are the steps to refresh your Roon Server database and perform a full fresh install:

Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Here is the process outlined from a Windows machine:

All Roon_old on Windows

Hello Benjamin,

I followed your instruction one by one but faced with the following problem:

Roon could be renamed. But
Roon Server and RAATServer can not be renamed. Small window was opened and says " this folder or file is opened by other program and therefore renaming can not be done. Try again after closing the corresponding folder or file. " I have problem that even clicking the icon of RoonServer it does not work and is not closed. Regarding RAATServer, I do not know how to close it.

Your help to the above is appreciated.

Kazuo

Hi @bmwm3,

You’ll need to stop Roon Server from running, which will also quit RAATServer as well.

  • Look at the Windows system tray (bottom-right corner, near the clock).
  • Find the Roon icon (a small circle logo).
  • Right-click → choose Quit (or Exit).

Let me know if this helps!

Hello Benjamin,

There was not QUIT or EXIT but only UNINSTALL. So I clicked UNINSTALL. And then a small window opened and says that this file is broken and Roon icons (Roon and Roon Server) did not disappear. However it looks that the files were unistalled.
