Hi I had a problem with logging into my ROON server and finally got it figured out with the the good people on this site so wanted to say thanks. Now all my saved play lists are gone that I have a lot of hours in and I mean along time in the making. So my question is how to get them restored? When I look at my account info I can see all the times I've logged in to ROON. is there a way for you guys to restore them back on my server they should of never been removed. I had it so organized this is bad please help. Thanks in advance......Joe
Were you doing scheduled Roon database backup’s on your old computer? If so, copy one over to your new computer and do a Roon database restore to Roon on your new computer.
If you were not doing backups, all is not lost if these playlist were made with Tidal or Qobuz linked files and you saved them to Tidal or Qobuz.
Otherwise, your only hope is to try and start Roon on your old computer and make a backup. If you can do that, I recommend you backup to an attached USB drive.
In another thread, you said your old laptop broke. Can it be repaired or can you remove the hard drive and install it in a working computer or perhaps as a USB drive. I’m not sure if or how you can run Roon from an attached USB drive, but if it has a Roon database backup on it, you can use it to restore your Roon database on the new laptop.
There is no way Roon support can do this for you. Your Roon database is local to your Roon server(s).
No because my old laptop wont turn on. But it is under warranty so maybe if they fix it I can. I bought it through Costco so there is hope. Thanks for your help.
Hey Jim,
Thanks for the reply I wasn’t doing backups so not good. But my laptop that won’t turn on is still under warranty so if Costco repairs it there’s a chance. If I have to do it all again WOW I don’t even no where to begin. Just trying to remember half the artists will be tough. But you can bet I’ll never not run BACKUPS again. Thanks again Jim for trying to help this old dude out.
Thanks for writing in! As others have mentioned, unfortunately, without a backup available, there isn’t much we can do in regards to local playlists.
Certainly, let us know how things go with getting your computer back up and running. We’ll be on standby for your reply!
Please note that Roon staff will be out of the office on December 24th-26th & January 1st in observance of the Christmas & New Years holiday period. Additionally, we will have limited staff available on December 27 & 30/31st . Thank you for your understanding
Thank you for your patience over the holidays. We wanted to pick this thread back up (no pun intended) to verify whether you still required any assistance setting up or restoring Roon Backups.
We can see several thousand local albums in your Roon library in our basic diagnostic information, so it’s our hope that you’ve been able to restore some of your collection without too much effort.
