Loud Hiss When Playing 192kHz Files (ref#08J8QC)

A few immediate things you can test:

  • Inspect the USB cable connecting your NUC to the DAC. A faulty or subpar cable can introduce noise or data transmission errors. Try using a different USB port on the NUC to rule out port-specific issues.
  • Navigate to Roon’s DSP settings and ensure that no unintended sample rate conversions or processing are applied to 192kHz files. Temporarily disable all DSP settings to test if the hiss persists.
  • Confirm that both your DAC and NUC are running the latest firmware and software versions. Manufacturers often release updates to address known issues.

Based on a recent diagnostic report, it looks like you’re running AcourateASIOfor 192 kHz playback - try increasing the buffer size in AcourateASIO’s settings.
