Hello Everyone, trying to get some help with a low volume. I have a HiFiBerry studiodac8x as an endpoint. I have it set up to make volume 100 percent on playback start and it is set for Dsp volume. It gets moderately loud but it will not get the amps anywhere close to clipping thanks.

You could try switching to device volume, make sure it’s at 100% and then switch back to DSP volume.
You could also try using Hi Fi Berry’s OS.
My (long gone) 2 channel Hi Fi Berry devices had some driver issues around volume control when used with Ropieee (were fine with Hi Fi Berry’s OS).
No idea if this is related.
Switch to fixed volume i.e., no DSP volume controls, and this will provide line out to the upstream amplifier. Does this make a difference?
I tried HiFiBerry but it appears I cannot use it how I need to, I am using the DAC as an active crossover and according to what I read HiFiBerry does not support that through Roon. I will have to set up a hardware volume if I go fixed volume as I don’t have any other way to control it.
It’s not entirely clear what you are attempting, but you should be able to use Muse for an active crossover. I’d check out Audio Gear Talk > DSP, and threads by @Graeme_Finlayson.
Also when I switched to device volume it locked the volume.
Fixed volume with device volume I guess that means the device doesn’t do device volume (which is probably good given the issues it caused on the 2 channel devices).
Although it doesn’t take us forward trying to resolve your volume issues.
Muse is all set up and working, no problem there, just acts like the volume on the endpoint is turned down.
Yes, that was my understanding also is that it could not do hardware volume but not sure where or how to proceed from here.
