Lumin U 2 suddenly stopped being recognized by Roon

I use A Lumin U2 streamer for almost two years now, very satisfied up to now. After the problems with Qobuz, the U2 was not recognized anymore by Roon. whatever I tried, it simply did not come up. Network was checked and all additional gear too by a IT firm, which I also use in my own firm. Finally my HiRes dealer decided to hook up another U2 and it was immediately found and I could play my music. Now this may be a coincidence, which it probably is, still I wanted to mention it on this forum. Has anyone had the same sort of problems, particularly with the U2, or other Lumin streamers. Frankly I expected a bit more of the U2 with a rather hefty price tag.

Hi @Harry_van_der_Wal ,

Was the other U2 by any chance running older/outdated firmware? Did it continue to show up/work fine via another protocol like Airplay (if available)?

It had the latest firmware available, Airplay did not work either. The player was simply not seen by Roon.

Hi @Harry_van_der_Wal,
Are you able to see the U2 listed as a device in your router? If nothing is able to see or play to the streamer it would indicate a problem with the streamer itself. Have you asked Lumin’s support about this?

Yes I see the Lumin as a device in my network/router, but Roon does not see it. Nevertheless I got a temporary replacement, the same model, and it was seen right away by Roon. My Lumin is send to the dealer to be looked at, and if need be repaired, it still in its warranty. So I await there verdict, but I haven’t a clue what is amiss with this streamer. I am bloody well want to know to be honest.

Hi @Harry_van_der_Wal,
I’m glad to hear you have a working streamer now. Did Lumin ever get back to you about what the problem was?

Not yet, I am still waiting.

If the replacement unit works very likely means your unit needs to be repaired. A repair process typically involves shipping board(s) or unit(s) back and forth, so it takes time.

As I understood the unit is send to an Lumin authorized repair center in the Netherlands, so we will see what they come up with. Things can break of course, but after 15 months playing it kind of surprised me excessively. I keep you abreast of what will happen with my Lumin U2.

Hi @Harry_van_der_Wal,
As Roon’s involvement in this case is at an end I’m going to set this ticket to close.
