Description of Issue

Many songs on Tidal have lyrics, while with Roon the lyrics are missing - is there a possibility for Roon to fetch the lyrics from Tidal if they’re missing in the Roon client?

Hello @Nanka_Keruna

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Can you give us a few specific examples of songs where you’ve noticed this happening? We’d be happy to take a closer look.

Not OP, but this has happened to me to in a lot of songs.

Examples (all of these have lyrics in Tidal):

  • “Háblame / Corazón de Roca”, Performed by “Chicano Batman”
  • “Te llevaré” Performed by “Lisandro Meza” on “Una Historia una Leyenda”
  • “Mi vida sin tu amor” Performed by “Son Rompe Pera”

Thank you for taking a look at this issue.

I have to same problem to many songs. For example “The Tall Grass” form Counting Crows. On Tidall en Apple Music there are lyrics, but not in Roon.
Can you please check why there are many differences?

Hi @RiMac,

Thank you for following up with an example. I’ll ask about this and get back in touch!

Hello again @Nanka_Keruna, @Sergio_Ugalde and @RiMac

Thanks again for your report. We’ll take a look and see what we can do. This work will be added to other system wide metadata enhancements we’re making. Because of this we’re unable to offer a specific timeline.

In the meantime, I’ll happily provide some additional detail on why this happens.

The reason that some songs display lyrics in TIDAL, or Qobuz, but not in Roon is likely because there are different lyrics metadata providers and the one they use in certain cases is different than ours. You’ll also find that we have lyrics for many tracks that they don’t have, the explanation for this is the same as above. Due to licensing reasons we don’t/can’t pass lyrics from Tidal or Qobuz through Roon.

I hope this helps to explain what you’re seeing a bit better. We appreciate your understanding and thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
