Actually, this is an old topic in few years ago but it seems no solution yet!
I just changed to use a Mac mini 2018 as the Roon core. Listen Tidal or files stored in NAS then stream to sMS-200ultra as endpoint. My Mac mini got HOT (very HOT) just run Roon 15 minutes. It can only be cooled down to normal eventually after quit the Roon. I’ve tried to uninstalled Roon and reinstalled it as suggested in previous thread but it didn’t help.
Hi ffk,
Thanks for your reply. I have around 10k tracks being stored in QNAP TS-251+ with 2TB SSD capacity. I found that my Mac mini is still hot even the scanning has been done and stopped. I also set the auto scan only when Roon starts up.
Kind regards,
Eckert
Hi wizardofoz
Thanks for kind assistance. With following your advice, I even tried to set it off instead of throttled but problem was still not resolved. At the end, I connected the sMS-200ultra direct to network switch instead of the second LAN port of QNAP TS-251+ that configured with virtual switch. It seems the problem is improved because the Mac mini is just getting warm but not as very hot as before. I tried to do this because I also found the virtual switch was unstable that led the Roon core couldn’t find the audio device (sMS-200ultra) sometimes while listening music. However, I still can’t set the Library Analysis on, otherwise, the Mac mini turns back to very HOT again.
Again, thanks for your kindly suggestion. Now I change my habit to start up the Roon core only when needed.
BTW, the fan of my Mac mini was already cleaned and no issue to run other applications all days.
Thanks and BR
Eckert
