Describe the issue

I have two Mac Mini's. One is the core and the other a NAS and endpoint. Mac mini that is the NAS has roon on it but no longer sees my Schitt Modi DAC and it used to. I have tried everything I can find on line. The Mac sees it and it is the set as the audio output. No firewalls on either right now, they are only for music.

Describe your network setup

AT*T router, Two Mac Mini's, Schitt Modi DAC, external HD's on each mac, not necessary, one Mac 2014 the other is an M1. M1 is the core.

Hello @Ted_Rushworth

Thank you for reaching Roon support.

macOS Sequoia (version 15), has tighter (and more obfuscated) network security settings than preceding MacOS versions.

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, and make sure Roon is allowed.

If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Thank you. In reviewing this the mac core sees the other mac and I can now use it as a NAS it just doesn’t see the Schiit modi Dac as a device and it used to. When on the end point MAC it is connected to the DAC and used to be an option under devices but no longer is there.

Hello @Ted_Rushworth.

Thank you for the update.

Would you kindly provide us with the screenshot of the Roon → Settings → Audio from both Mac devices.

Here you go. The one showing the mountains in the background on the screen is the endpoint.

Hi @Ted_Rushworth ,

Thanks for the screenshots. Just to confirm, you didn’t use Time Machine / Migration Assistant to restore one Mac to the other, is this correct? You can try to perform a RAATServer refresh on the Mac not showing the Schitt.

You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings -> Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:

  • Create a Backup of your current Roon database
  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon’s Database Location of the affected device (not the main Roon Server)
  • Find the folder that says “RAATServer”
  • Rename the “RAATServer” folder to “RAATServer_old”
  • Restart the Roon App to generate a new RAATServer folder

Hi @Ted_Rushworth,

We haven’t seen a response so we wanted to reach back out on this thread. Did you try refreshing RAATServer per the above instructions?

We’ll start there and provide additional steps as necessary. Keep in mind this thread will auto-close without a response from the original poster after a few days of inactivity. Thanks!
