Mac Remote can’t connect to ROCK Server after 2.71 update (ref#P2VUP8)

Hi @Pascal_Coumans

The confusion and subsequent merging was due to your original support request reporting the Roon Server was not running (which is understandable given the false web admin status message).

Now we know more about this case I has taken the following actions to bring all the history together from 3 topics into your support submission topic.

I’ve changed the title (originally "Roon Server fails to start after 2.7.1 update" to improve clarity and also struck out the original fault description and replaced it with what is actually happening (as far as we know at this point).

It was quite an involved process (30 mins work) so do have a re-read to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

@Pascal_Coumans

PS does your Mac have an Intel CPU?

I ask as think these Mac issues are only affecting x86 machines.

Whatever it is, you’re not alone and Roon support and development are fully aware and on it … for all of us :crossed_fingers: for a swift resolution.

Hi Carl, I have a M1 Max, so not Intel.

Hi @Pascal_Coumans ,

Roon have released a “hot fix”, see linked post, which includes MacOS 12 and 13 fixes.

I suspect your running 14 or higher but it’s still recommend to update then you can report back if it has helped or not.

Thanks Carl, just checked and the server-not-running is now resolved with 1683 when I go to the rock webpage. Roon on Mac though not okay yet, but don’t think there was new version released for that? I’m running Golden Gate btw.

@Pascal_Coumans ,

Thanks for the update good news re ROCK, as for Mac Remote issue that’s over to @Stephen and the rest of the Roon team … the complication here could be that macOS 27 is still beta and Roon don’t officially support beta operating systems.

Hi, would be fair indeed, happy to then act as tester for macOS27. Note that: now at beta4, I’m sure it worked on beta3, don’t remember whether I used roon on Mac when updated to beta 4. And note that my iOs devices also run on iOs27 beta without issues (nor roon or other sw I’m using). Good thing is that I can use from iPad & iPhone, incl ARC, which covers 70% of my use and can be used for the time being.

My MAC apps are also very problematic despite the server issue being fixed. Constant refreshes and searching for server etc. All other remotes on iPhone and iPad are ok.

Hi, My Macapp now also connected. I haven’t changed anything (no OS updates, nor app update). Will monitor if stays okay.
