Description Of Issue
Hi All.
I’ve been struggling to get the MacMini to sleep as scheduled, this started since I updated to High Sierra last year. To experiment I’ve been shutting off the ROON Core every night for a week and the Mac sleeps and wakes as scheduled without any problems. As soon as I have the Core running again it doesn’t sleep. When I wake the Mac it resumes the sleep countdown at the 9 minute mark.
As suggested I made sure no music is playing and I even shut down all the Roon remotes on other computers.
The next time this behavior occurs, please perform the following steps to help us investigate this issue:
Open the macOS Terminal.app application and run the command pmset -g assertions. You can find Terminal.app in the Applications/Utilities folder on your Mac.
Copy the output of the pmset -g assertions command and paste it in a new post in this thread.
Send us a copy of your Roon logs. You can find instructions on how to do this here here. You can use a file hosting service like Firefox Send to deliver the .zip file to us. Simply copy the link generated by Firefox Send and include it in your post body.
Are you using the HDMI output on your Mac mini in Roon? If so, would it be possible to disable the HDMI zone in Roon, reboot the computer, and see if you run into this issue in the time-frame that it normally occurs with the HDMI output disabled?
Hi John,
I followed your instructions and disable the HDMI output in ROON. I kept an eye on the sleep issues and so far it has not helped. The first 2 nights the Mac went to sleep as scheduled but it reverted back and doesn’t behave as scheduled.
We have been able to reproduce this behavior in our QA lab albeit with inconsistent results. We are working on making this issue reproducible for the development team. I can’t give an estimate on when this work will be done, but I’m glad to report progress has been made.
Hi John,
Thanks for the update. I’m glad this was reproduced in the lab. Keep in mind the “inconsistent” nature of the issue is exactly what I’m experiencing. Sometimes the Mac sleeps and sometimes it doesn’t, it just doesn’t work as expected, so it seems your team has reproduced the behaviour perfectly.
