Mac System Output Sample Rate - change automatically? [Use Exclusive Mode]

When using Mac System Out (Toslink) I notice the sample rate stays set by AudioMidi Setup. But I get the best sound quality is when Core Audio sample rate matches the source sample rate. How about writing code to allow Roon to change the Mac sample rate on the fly to match the source? Amarra does this and it works well.
(MacMini, OS10.12.6 Sierra, Qutest DAC)

Hi Samuel,

Are you able to select Built-In Output instead? If so, then select Exclusive Mode in Device Settings.

That worked! Thanks for the advice Greg. Curiously, Built-In Output wasn’t available before, but I opened Audio setup on the Mac Core and it popped up today. cheers.
